Thanks for the recommendations! The shoes are beat up enough. If I would wear "nicer shorts, nicer shirt", no socks & these loafers (from Loakes), my guess would be that there's still some inherent dressiness in the shoes that doesn't work as well with shorts as other loafers. Two further suggestions: Try to research every term you encounter in order to understand the conceptual implications. "Dark academia" has been mentioned. It's an aesthetic fueled by nostalgia, a romanticized past, so no contemporary cuts and combinations are desirable here. There's Ivy Style...- Zekaa

(The jacket is too classic menswear for that combination imo. I've bought a nice RAF No. 1 dress jacket without patches for that reason. I wear it without the belt, preferably with olive trousers. Looks decent but not something you'd see every day in business casual.)- Zekaa

I know that that's the effect: The short front balance makes one look bellied, but that's bad, cause I ain't that fat, as it can be seen in this picture when the shirt is tucked in. But maybe there's a stylistic convention on top: That camp shirts should rather have a slightly dropped shoulder...- Zekaa
