Not sure there's a way to prevent that - looks like the natural way your foot moves inside that particular shoe. I wore my unlined 8 dovers sockless a couple of times recently and got a "hotspot" on the side of my heel area -- very similar to were this appears to be on your shoe (never...- CEE88

I think unlined just feels better on your foot (moisture being part, but not all of it). I wear my lined color 8 Ranger sockless and it feels pretty good, but not nearly as comfortable my unlined 8 Dover.- CEE88

There's anecdotal evidence out there suggesting the shell models will feel a bit looser, perhaps because it doesn't stretch, so Alden is accounting for that lack of stretch by making shell models looser than non-shell boots/shoes.- CEE88
