    Shoe Fit - too tight?

Personally, I don't believe that shoes which feel "tight" will ever break in to become comfortable. I also do not believe in wearing any shoe that would make it uncomfortable to spend a day walking. I agree proper sizing is important, and yes, my feet are larger now than when younger. Much of...

New Glasses: what do you think of these?

Personally, I think the wires would look better in silver than gold as they would be less conspicuous, but it would depend on your coloring as to which looks best. Personally, I would choose the wires over the blond tortoise shell, as, IMO, it's just a cleaner look.

Won these on Ebay - Are the C&J?

I bought a pair in black from GVH, and they are made in Italy. If you go to the polo site, they even identify the Carlson as italian made.

    Manton outsells Mary Cheney

Running neck and neck with Ms. Cheney in the 4000's is unlikely to be cheery to either publisher (BTW, with a $1 miilion dollar advance, did she at least get to put pictures in her book?)

Hang up the suit jacket when I get to work?

Actually, I keep two good hangers in my office. One for my jacket, and the second for my coat, when worn. If you are hanging up your jacket, at least make sure it's on the same quality of hanger you have at home, a wire hanger from the cleaners doesn't quite work. As I typically have lunch at...

Pleats or no pleats for modern looking suits?

I would say that the pleat/no pleat issue is more about line and style so as to give designers some "new" look for the season. There's almost no real play in the men's market (at least business/dress-wear) in comparison to the the women's market, where styles are easy, and acceptable, to change...

Morning coat after 6pm for formal wear?

I agree there is variation among "midnight blues", but a truly deep blue would barely be noticeable as not black, even in daylight, unless you were looking for it. I also second white gloves, they really are a requirement. Indoor lighting is now quite varied, with full spectrum...

Would you buy men's accessories online or offline?

I'm fine with all of them online, so long as I can satisfy myself they are not counterfeit, or, with cuff links, if presented as sterling, that I have checked out the seller as best I can.

What do you think of this black pinstripe suit? Business appropriate?

I wonder why it's listed as 90% wool, not 100%. That is a little odd for Armani White.

    Elastane in Suits

If elastane seems too much of a compromise in a wool suit, I just read in GQ (OK, not a great or regular read, but is occasionally useful when bored) that DKNY is now adding steel fibers to their linen jackets for shape and support. Be advised to pack it, rather than wear it, when flying. I...

    Initials in MTM shirts?

I have mixed feelings about initials, but I agree something discreet is best. If you do opt for initials, something in a small type, with a tonal thread rather than contrasting (which stands out far too much), can be perfectly acceptable. YMMV.

Polo Shoes on eBay - Help

I'm hoping they are C&J as it's tough to find anything decent in a size 12. Their BIN is $199.99, but hopefully it will sell a bit below.

Visit to Chan for first real suit

At my request Patrick added a pocket for my cell phone. It's positioned so as not to create an unsightly bulge. I'm curious about your cell phone pocket. Is there any reinforcement to keep it from pulling down on the fabric (i.e. Blackberry size/weight)? No matter which pocket I use in my...

    ebay policy/procotol?

It appears that's up to the seller. If your offer is greater than the opening bid, perhaps they will sell it early. It looks like there's no standard set of rules regarding this, although I would think that once the bidding starts, it should be followed to completion. But it seems you can...

How many pairs of cuflinks do you wear per week?

A different set each day when wearing French cuffs, so about 4 pairs a week. I have a few favorites, but I never wear them 2 days in a row.

Want the best? Why not try $10K suit?

They seem to have others you can also get as BIN for $10,000, so at least you needn't worry about the price getting bid up on you. For that much money, couldn't they have at least ironed out those wrinkles on the back for the photo?

    Emergency Cleaning Option in Manhattan?

I would second Hallak, and it will likely be ready later in the day, rather than bothering to wait until Saturday. Just bring it over early.
