I think I hate San Francisco.

    @kwilkinson is now average!

    Bourbon.

I've been on a little bourbon and American whiskey kick of late, mostly to make old fashioneds and have on the rocks during the heat waves. Have been digging Henry McKenna 10 for the price and Four Roses Single Barrel. I got a bottle of Elijah Craig that's 11 years from a local shop's private...

    Any One for a Scotch?

I generally think of Ardbeg if I get seaweed and brine combined with other deep and sweeter flavors. Recently have had Edradour Sauternes Cask, Ohishi Sherry Single Cask #1212 (huge sherry bomb with underlying whisky complexity that belies the shochu provenance), and that Glendronach 12. My...

    Reasons why New York Sucks

The cashless upgrade to the Triborough bridge has made life a bit easier, though the construction and infrastructure work for the months leading up to the go-live was terrible. The MTA continues to suck on the regular.

    Any One for a Scotch?

I have a batch #55 (I think, definitly mid 50's) at home which is fantastic. I haven't had the reportedly less impressive late #40's batches. I finally got my hands on a Glendronach (the 12) which I'm looking forward to trying along with a Balvenie 15 Single Barrel Sherry Cask. Going sherry crazy!

    Reasons why New York Sucks

NYC Summer is coming... An out of town friend was visiting over the weekend and wanted to check out smorgasburg. What a **** show that reminded me why I never go to Williamsburg anymore...

    Any One for a Scotch?

Jeez... Laphroaig may be smokey and peaty but it surely doesn't taste that bad. Definitely a very strong flavor profile for a noob to learn to either adjust to or realize that it will never be their thing. I ordered the Ardbeg Committee release Kelpie (stay away idfnl) while Astor Wine was...

    Reasons why New York Sucks

Jeez. I thought it was pretty much perfect when I was drinking a beer on a rooftop. But that was around 6:30. It almost got chilly out by the time I made it home at 9.

    S..t Town Podcast

I've been very cautious with avoiding any spoilers on this show, but it's been fantastic so far. I'm only 3 episodes in and saving the rest for a drive up to Montreal in a few days. Really excited to see where this goes!

    Reasons why New York Sucks

I really like Don's Bogam as a place to take people before a night out since their ventilation is awesome and you don't really smell after leaving. They also have a good wine list. I personally prefer the wood charcoal fired KBBQ variety, which is hard to find in Manhattan. Most of the old...

    Reasons why New York Sucks

You either went to the wrong type of KBBQ place or the PERFECTLY RIGHT KBBQ place, hard to tell with just the smelly clothes.

Talking stocks, trading, and investing in general

Depending on market performance you might want to rebalance at least once a year just to keep on target.

    Cars We Drive!

Cn you see where it dripped from? Could help understand what the cause was. Bad hose, connection, crack etc. I've never seen red coolant but hey, learned something new.

    Cars We Drive!

Transmission or Power Steering. Best to get it checked out. Power steering is something you can sorta get around for a short drive and likely not cause major damage (perhaps the PS pump as it won't like running without fluid all that much) but that's way cheaper than a transmission. Can you...

    Any One for a Scotch?

Funny enough, I had some of my Arran 12 CS last night after my first softball practice/scrimmage of the season (got COLD outside as the sun hit the horizon). To borrow from Rob Thomas x Santana "man, it's a hot one". This is one I pour, add water, swirl, and let sit for 15 minutes before...

    Cars We Drive!

I saw one of those in my rearview while driving near my hood. I knew instantly that it was incredibly ugly and kept an eye after I had pulled over to a parking spot. Sure enough, an assault on the eyes. Not quite as bad as the Bentayga though... Replaced all 4 rotors and pads just before the...

What Movies Are You Watching Lately

Saw this over the past weekend and thought it was great. Jordan Peele really showed off his knowledge of the classics while making this one all his own.

    Any One for a Scotch?

The mouth chew is something I also do when tasting cigars. It really does help get it all around and activate your tongue and palate. Generally follow what the gents above have described. I always try whiskies neat at room temp for the first time, even the CS stuff. Then I add water as...
