    Diamonds

I got my wife's ring (2.75 carat, E color, vvs2, princess cut) for approx. $11,000 vs. the $16,000 diamond stores wanted to charge me. That is an excellent - some may even say unbelievable price for that diamond. For example, in the $16,000 price range, Bluenile lists a 2.7 carat, J color, VS1...

    Mallard corduroys?

Slightly off topic. . . My fiancee wants me to buy the navy or green cords to wear at the Greenbrier this Christmas. I think Dorothy Draper would approve.

Harvard Engineering I find it hard to imagine why someone would choose Harvard over MIT for engineering though.

on jeans, does belt go through or over the patch?

I see under-the-patch all the time and always assume the person is trying to show off the brand. I find under-the-patch to be rather gauche, akin to leaving the brand label on a suit coat sleeve. The only time I could see it working is as an ironic display of say a cheap JC Penny brand.

What do you listen to while ironing / shining your

I typically iron a week's worth of shirts in a batch on Sunday. I imagine I'm one of the few men who irons while watching the NFL or Nascar. (And perhaps the only man who watches Nascar and irons.) Like Renault, I basically just listen to the TV and look up for the interesting replays.

BB ease suit for $225?  Good deal?

I bought a Brooksease suit about 10 years ago. After the 3rd trip to the drycleaner the interlining started poking through. I don't know if it was the fault of the suit or the drycleaner but I haven't bought a BB suit or used that drycleaner ever since. I understand that the mid 90s was a low...

    Steaming

I have steamed a couple old ties that were unwearable due to the amount of wrinkles. Although no one would confuse them with new ties, both were refreshed to presentable condition. I personally wouldn't feel comfortable doing it regularly out of fear and respect for errant water droplets.

    Non-iron shirts

I keep checking every season to see if they have finally decided to put out a slim fit, non-iron Ainsley collar in basic solid colors. I have bought enough of the polo collars to last me indefinitely and I refuse to wear forward point collars. I dream of the day when the only ironing I need to...

Gonna order a shirt from jantzen

Bjorn, IIRC you posted awhile back about purchasing a Jantzen shirt with a button-down collar. Any opinion on how the collar turned out now that you've had some time to wear the shirt? I'm thinking about getting a few casual shirts to wear under a sweater this fall/winter. Thanks

Easiest way to shave your head

Thanks, it's good to hear that there really isn't any secret to it. It sounds like even I should be able to successfully do it.

    Bluefly

Thanks for the heads up and the code, guys. I just ordered a pair of the McCallum Chukkas that people were raving about awhile back. Between the sale and the coupon they are down to $230 shipped.

Easiest way to shave your head

LA Guy (or anyone else), any tips for properly trimming (as opposed to shaving) your hair? I have been thinking of trying to maintain a trimmed look by myself since the hair surrounding my bald spot continues to (cruelly) grow as rapid as ever. The short haircut looks good for a week but then...

Ll bean super 100s dress pants

I haven't tried the LL Bean pants but please let us know how you like them if you get them. I have started looking for some fall/winter pants and the ones you pointed out look like good work pants at a good price. The Lands' End 70s Year'rounders are also available as flat front. They are a bit...

    Best jeans under... $100? $80? $60?

J, you might want to stop by Express. They started their summer sale today, so most sizes should still be in stock. I stopped by and some of their jeans are on sale for $20-30. Most of them were low-rise with a boot cut, lots of vintage washes. I did find a pair that's a pretty natural looking...

    Brooks brothers slim-fit polo’s

That spelling is so ghetto. But if I'm saving money, what do I care? I guess websites with misspellings are like owning a shop a couples blocks off of Savile Row - lower overhead with savings passed on to the consumer.
