Jacques Marie Mage - Wolves, Obnoxious Acetate and The American Dream

Anyone have thoughts on rose gradient lenses (Earl)? Not sure I’d like looking through red lenses. Silver has green gradients, which I’m familiar with. Trying to be open with colorways I normally wouldn’t get. Guess I could just order both and return the one I like less.

Don't understand you dude. You're outraged at Jerome (who you think is a jerk) for price hikes and catering to the Hollywood elite, no longer considering buying any additional frames because they're too expensive, and now you're complaining they aren't designing enough for you? Just such a weird...

@Aroma - how did you get those LF in reserve? Don't see them on the site. But damn, those are fantastic. After picking up Torino in Rx, I have a new found admiration for reserve. @Easily Amused knew what was up years ago. Thankfully, drop 2 LF are all small for my noggin. Might have to...

Thank you sir. Guess those are the folks who ordered at the trunk show. Folks are understandably tight lipped about sharing pre release info. None of those look like $1900 frames, but hopefully I’m mistaken and there are some gems.

Guess I misunderstood what Wed March 27, 2024 means per the IG post. 😁 Plus I didn’t see anything new on the site.

Looking forward to checking out the Last Frontier drop on Wednesday. Wouldn’t even mind some re-releases but in more interesting colors. Think I’m tapped out on tortoise style frames. And confirmed I don’t find the solid black frames unique enough to justify the price (having bought a few and...

If you mean by “official” an actual JMM brand store there is none in NYC. You have to go to an authorized retailer, which includes opticians like Anthony Aiden, Atelier Mira, etc.

They cut lenses in their Venice store so I don’t see why not.

Am I the only one with an issue with the captcha trying to log onto the NMWA website? I click I’m not a robot but it just gets stuck there so I can’t log in. This is using Safari on my iPhone. Happened last few drops.

Fine I’ll say it. You’re asking because it’s an ugly coat and weird color. One glance and I knew Antonio had nothing to do with it. 😂

Received Mishima in agar. Dig the frames but absolutely HATE the yellow lenses. Was thinking of just getting regular grey-green lenses, as I like looking through them (as say compared to blue or regular grey), but not very exciting. Should I try something else like mirrored lenses? (zoomer has...

Well you should. It’s pretty good. Helps you understand where he’s coming from. Dude is really a pie in the sky designer. Thinks much differently than us dudes who sit in front of our screens a lot and spend time on SF. It’s one thing to reimagine previous designs, and it’s another to copy.

I’m not just talking about chunky acetate though. It’s with the exposed wiring and the overall look and feel of certain styles being imitated. Although Akila certainly has some models that are riffing off JMM. But I don’t disagree it’s good to have choices, particularly cheaper ones.

What brands was Jerome referring to in his interview with Seen that copy JMM? I’ve been getting a bunch more T Henri ads served up to me, and it’s obvious some of their acetate styles are a big rip off of JMM, but not as well done, at least as far as I can see.

Really like the himalaya color way. Only two models have it so far. I took delivery of the Sterett a couple of weeks ago. That thing was solid and temples were amazing. Didn’t fit though, and I realized (and it’s been said here), there’s really nothing special about the black acetate. I agree...

Who was that guy on SF years ago who had this weird way of writing just using commas and all lower case and odd phrasing? Don’t think English was his first language and it was intentional. It was excruciatingly painful to read but you wanted more of it. It was crazy.

To be fair, this Frenchman, JJ as you call him, is living the real American dream more than any of the Americans on this EBB (electronic bulletin board) care to admit. I mean rancher, motocross racer, long distance runner through Wyoming, LA, and Tokyo, wildlife preservationist, and contributor...
