Cole Haan hookup... is it worth even looking?

Cole Haan Collection would be fine at 50% off list.

    Liquidation

What about a consignment store? That would still be clothing, and since your restaurant is/was high end you should have a decent amount of connections among the set that would be interested in selling off their clothes and accessories. Your wife's jewelry would fit in well there too.

40% off at BR; should i use it on their shirts?

The Monogram line is fine (a tad pricey at retail), but if you want to use your coupon that's an option.

If you were moving to DC, which neighborhood would you move to?

Adams Morgan proper is going to be fairly obnoxious during the late night socializing hours on Thur/Fri/Sat when all the drunk college/young professionals are stumbling around the neighborhood. DuPont is pricey. It's hard to give any concrete guidance without a price range. Eastern market is...

Ermenegildo Zegna suit: a good value at $1,050?

Spend less on the suit, more on either doing more things in Russia or getting the accessories/shoes/etc. Unless everyone at that party is a secret SF lurker, they're not going to have a clue if the suit is from Zegna, or Zara--as long as it fits properly that's all that really matters.

Why are laptops so bling these days?

What resolution screen did you get on the XPS? I'm used to high resolution, but i'm wondering if 1900x1200 on a 15.4" won't result in everything being just too small for comfortable use over extended periods of time. I do actually need the resolution for work so that i can compare things...

Graduating in 3 months... Should I take a year off and travel or try to get a job?

I'm definitely going to travel, although I think I'll scale the duration of my trip down a bit because a year is a long time as some have mentioned. My roommate's mother is the chairman of an oprhanage and young microfinance program in Tanzania so if all works out my plan is to spend the first...

Graduating in 3 months... Should I take a year off and travel or try to get a job?

If you're interested in international relations/development, or a within a speciality like microfinance, travel is good because you can talk about the field with real experience instead of reading about it in some book/magazine. Volunteer while you're in country, or teach English, secondary...

Poll: What is your salary/watch price ratio?

But you really shouldn't discount your future net worth so greatly as truly nice watches are likely to hold their worth (or increase in value) over time. Watches are not an investment vehicle. Go look at the TimeZone Showcase which lists used watches that sell for over $5,000, and you'll see how...

    Filene's Basement Closing 11 Stores

For the Maryland Filene's, there's one on Rockville Pike/355, in the same shopping center as G Street Fabrics. It's no loss, either.

    gbp crashing, uk shopping trip?

My pair of Edward Greens from the sale weren't charged until yesterday. Ended up being closer to 50% off than 30%

    Ralph Lauren Watches

Agreed. Unless there's some sort of exclusive movement (and/or innovation) to these RL watches, they don't seem that compelling enough at that price range.

    Lindt Excellence 99

Try Michel Cluizel 99% Noir Infini with either an excellent tequila, or brandy. It's more appropriately sized for a 99% at 30g, too, although I don't even come close to finishing the bar in one go. It's more of a one piece thing for me.

Is it worth buying 1 expensive watch?

Watches aren't an investment, no matter what the Rolex marketing department would like you to believe. You should buy a watch because you love it, not because someone told you to, or because of what other people think of it. A $40 Timex will keep time better than a $2,000 Omega (or a $20,000...

    New to "drinking"

I have to wonder about people recommending hard liquor (Whiskey, Bourbon) to someone who doesn't drink. Stay away from it because a)you probably won't like it b) when you drink it for the first few times you will have the same face as if someone stuck their finger up your ass. Which doesn't look...

Johnston Murphy vs. Cole Haan vs. Kenneth Cole (Shoes)

How would I know if the Air Madero is cemented? I think it's their lower-end line, and is the most recent model. Thanks! It'll tell you in the product description if you haven't caught SF-shoe-fever (first symptom AE, next C&J+, then EG/JL/GG etc, etc). For example, "Tassel loafer benchmade in...

Johnston Murphy vs. Cole Haan vs. Kenneth Cole (Shoes)

Cole Haan Collection is fine deeply discounted (goodyear welted etc etc). It's not amazing, but it's not the nightmare people are making it out to be. The lasts aren't particularly elegant, but they're not hideous either. If you buy the lower priced cemented/rubber soled shoes, that's your own...

    Watch Advice

Adding support to the buy a travel watch option from Seiko/Hamilton/Tissot/Longines. It'll also pull double duty as your (drunken) college party watch. I would also suggest looking at the sales corner at the TimeZone forums and seeing what the used market has to offer since, as with clothes...

    On the spot pimple potions?

I have the Malin + Goetz treatment. It works, but not an as overnight miracle (for me, anyway): it usually clears up after two nights. I hate the packaging though, needs a small plastic inner lid with just enough clearance to get a Q-tip in.
