The Watch Appreciation Thread - Part two (Rolex, Patek Philippe, Audemars Piguet, Jaeger LeCoultre,

I think a 36mm DJ looks better because of the bracelet. It's really an integral part of the design and helps cover the wrist. 36 isn't crazy but does seem a bit less than ideal. That said, there are always a hatful of different factors at play - I imagine most guys who pick one up do it for...

The Watch Appreciation Thread - Part two (Rolex, Patek Philippe, Audemars Piguet, Jaeger LeCoultre,

Seems like a stretch to say they don't deserve to bear the same model name. There is a obvious consistency in design language. I agree with a lot of what people have said about the old dial being better looking. But it's pretty silly to try to pretend that they're completely different. With...

The Watch Appreciation Thread - Part two (Rolex, Patek Philippe, Audemars Piguet, Jaeger LeCoultre,

I've often seen menswear-y guys who are interested in watches lament that modern watches are so big and predict that the pendulum will swing back the other way. I'm pretty unconvinced. I think some 55mm beast will always be an aberration - because it doesn't make any sense (aside from the...

The Watch Appreciation Thread - Part two (Rolex, Patek Philippe, Audemars Piguet, Jaeger LeCoultre,

In what sense is IWC behind GO (at least as regards the Portugieser and Senator lines)?

The Watch Appreciation Thread - Part two (Rolex, Patek Philippe, Audemars Piguet, Jaeger LeCoultre,

I looked at the Automatic as well and didn't find it quite as interesting. I have one watch, a Snowflake, which wears quite small so the idea here is for a bit of contrast - a more substantial, weighty bit of steel.

The date on the GO is indeed better. I prefer the applied and blue indices of the IWC though. The Dornbluth watches look nice but I'm not particularly interested in a small brand, especially since it would more or less be impossible to see it before owning it.

I'm going back and forth between these two - any thoughts? Still haven't managed to see the GO in person - apparently neither dealer in Manhattan has one. Also open to other suggestions along these lines.

I'm really feeling this even darker version. Would be super easy to wear.

I think all the big - or at least good - names have a nice blue birdseye in 10-11 oz. Lesser, Harrisons, Smiths.

Yea - I think this dude is legit. https://pages.rapha.cc/nl/builders-nl/sam-humpheson Could be a winner. I was also thinking of the Dura Ace 9000 C50s as I imagine they'll all be on sale pretty soon.

Nice ride, HC. Frame looks sorta like a Trek Domane with a thicker toptube. Where's the frame from?
