    J.Crew Spring/Summer 2013

Okay, what in the world is up with J. Crew prices these days? They're now selling Baracuta G-9s for $390. This is at least $100, maybe more, than what I paid for one from J. Crew 4 years ago. I realize that Baracuta's prices have gone up in general, but you can find them on certain men's sites...

Is any of the Lands End stuff for men good?

Sure, I'll do a zombie thread resurrection. I stumbled on this thread while doing some research into LE for some purchases I'm going to make. I just picked up their blackwatch Viyella l/s shirt, and it is great! I was really surprised. I don't expect much from this company, or didn't, until...

Wow. You sure have. Better start laying off the pizzas, dude. Nah, just kidding. The fit looks fine, in my opinion.

    Clarks Desert Boots

My guess is anywhere from 6 to 12 or even 18 months or possibly quite a bit longer, depending on several factors: how much daily wear you give them, the conditions you wear them in (weather, etc.), the humidity in your house, and any number of unknown variables. I wouldn't obsess over it. With...

    Clarks Desert Boots

Very odd. I don't think I've ever seen the "lightening up" of which you speak. Quite the contrary, as with most leather products, they tend to darken over time. Also, if you are responsibly taking care of them by occasionally conditioning them with a leather condition, that, too, will make...

I'm not sure I understand. I don't put my shoes on with the laces already tied. ???

    Clarks Desert Boots

OK. Tight around arches is one thing. I experience this too when they're new. Unable to get them on without a shoehorn because of tightness around the arches is quite another thing. They're just not made that way--there is huge room in the tongue and lace area to allow your foot to get in...

+2 It just doesn't make sense to me that these could ever be hard to slip on if you're anywhere near your correct size. They're made in a way that they virtually slip onto your feet.

I've tried rinsing and it doesn't seem to improve. Heck, they're only $60. Maybe I'll just grab another pair.

On the other hand, I'm not sure I can abide these stains. http://imgur.com/a/J1YRA Would you still wear them? I'm not sure how these came about. I've heard different things. Bleach in the detergent. Glue from the insole that wicks upward as the shoe dries. Should I just wear them anyway?

It's white sperry cvos for me this summer. I don't even have to buy any. I'm pulling my dirty ones out of the closet. Figure if they're good enough for this guy, they're good enough for me.

    Clarks Desert Boots

To me Clarks look good when they get roughed in a bit. I don't think of them as a dress shoe, although I do try to keep my chocolate brown ones nice looking. But I don't obsess over it. I just wear them and let what happens happen. I think you are the only person I've heard say they run small...

If I'm not mistaken, I think RW Heritage does make a suede chukka. I'll have to check their site again but I could swear I saw one there. Here we go: http://www.redwingheritage.com/boots#&f=&m=/detail/3138-heritage-us/3138-red-wing-heritage-mens-chukka-boot-gray I guess it might not be...

    J.Crew Spring/Summer 2013

I agree, A. I have Ludlow jackets and suits, and they fit me perfectly and I feel they are somewhat timeless. And I agree about the sweaters and collabs. There is still good stuff there, and I still shop there. Just seems like I am finding less there that interests me these days.
