How many suits to get by on?
first get your present suits altered. for four grand you can get 6 nice suits and all the shirts ,ties,belts etc you need .that is if you shop the sales wisely. remember, "fit comes first" you can buy the most expensive suit. but if it fits badly it looks like crap. I work in an quasi-casual atmosphere. Most wear business casual, but a good number are in suits everday. I want to move from the former to the latter. Considering ordering a few custom suits (Chan? Bespoke suits out of college
and I would absolutely not spend that money. You only make $60k base and maybe 60k in bonus (it was more this year, but they were records..it won't be like that next year). Buy two suits and you're out 10k. Thats about 12% of your after-tax income...and that assumes that you don't contribute...- Monster

Custom shirts in NYC?
I want to go the Jantzen or MyTailor way for shirts, but don't want to mess around with having to make repeated corrections...especially not at 4+ weeks from order to delivery. I'd like to buy one shirt (or as it seems many places have a 3 shirt minimum...3), then send that off to get copied...- Monster

Any source for quality pants?
Basically, my collection of pants is sorely lacking, and of poor quality, in comparison to my collection of button down shirts. canadian here as well. its even more rare to get an IB job in Can. are you west coast or east coast? my suggestion still stands im not sure if you are in i-banking, but its one of the last professions that really prides itself on being conservative. as a banker myself i dont think you will find many that arent wearing a suit and tie, especialy investment banking. i suggest you listen these suggestions: navy, charcoal, and both with pinstripes...that will keep you fresh. get some nice shoes and white/blue shirts welcome to banking....what...- Monster

I would suggest you avoid wearing it to work though. Not because its inappropriate, but rather you will be spending 14+ hours in a chair each day, not wearing your jacket. It wears out the seat of your pants while the jacket doesn't see any wear. Since you say it means a lot to you, I would...- Monster
