    STEAKS!!!!!!!

You can also rub the heated pan with the ***** side of the steak rather than using oil. Don’t use ghee only though, you need the solids in butter to really add flavor when basting your steak prior to serving.

What Movies Are You Watching Lately

The soundtrack is also quite good, as are the period details: particularly relating to siege warfare etc.

What Movies Are You Watching Lately

These are a few good ones: I’ve got more, but if you’ve got Trader Vic, Don the Beachcomber, Charles Baker (both GC and SAGC, sadly mine are not not unpacked yet) and Beachbum Berry, you’ve got all you really need, although Smuggler‘s Cove is well worth owning too.

What Movies Are You Watching Lately

It was, and is a great movie, so glad I added the qualifier “perhaps”, but Hoodwinked is really worth watching.

What Movies Are You Watching Lately

Perhaps the best Kurosawa remake/adaptation since The Magnificent Seven is Hoodwinked. Yes, it’s a kids cartoon with terrible animation, but the concept, script and voice talent (Anne Hathaway, Glenn Close, John Cleese etc) are fantastic. It’s Little Red Riding Hood given the Rashomon treatment...

What Movies Are You Watching Lately

TCM via HBOMax just put up some great movies on demand. We debated between Being There, The Man Who would be King and My Favorite Year. My Favorite Year won out, just a really amusing movie with some great lines and performances. We’ll probably watch the other two soon.

What are you drinking right now?

Started the evening with a Dead Rabbit Whiskey Cocktail made using Morganthaler’s blender method, it was a smashing success.

What are you drinking right now?

Last Word with Vigilant Navy Strength Gin, a little unusual due to the harissa and fig, but tasty.

Margaritas and then Dos Equis with Chili on a rare snowy day in Austin.

    STEAKS!!!!!!!

I used to buy Snake River whole boneless ribeyes from a local shop, really great quality, but they stopped carrying it. I’ve never ordered from them online, but can’t imagine they wouldn’t be great!

    STEAKS!!!!!!!

Yeah, that’s pretty sucky, but tbh that’s kinda old style Texas home cooking when people didn’t do real bbq at home because you could grill but home smokers that worked well were harder to come by. It’s laughable now, but if you look at some old Texas cookbooks from the 60s or earlier a lot of...

    STEAKS!!!!!!!

Now I have to see this recipe, where is it? Do you have a link? Does it have freeze-dried onions in it (the true indicator of a totally ****** recipe).

    STEAKS!!!!!!!

Fair enough, didn’t see Cornyn’s post myself but “crockpot bbq” is an abomination, my point is that virtually every post you make in threads I follow brings in politics regardless of the topic. I come to SF, and avoid threads like CE, specifically to avoid politics, it’s become so pervasive in...

    STEAKS!!!!!!!

Dude, you need to step away from the politics in every post, or just go to the CE thread. Stick to the topic, nobody cares about your political opinions, this thread is about something important: steak (And lamb etc)!

    STEAKS!!!!!!!

You’re from Texas and don’t like gamy meat? You don’t like cabrito or venison? Are you sure you didn’t move here from LA?

    STEAKS!!!!!!!

It’s so funny, I told a colleague we were grilling lamb and she said “lamb is disgusting, I hate it.” I then told her “you know all lamb is grass fed/pasture raised, they won’t eat feed” and suddenly she had to try it “again.”

What Movies Are You Watching Lately

At one point, at least 20 years ago maybe more, it was online. Must’ve been remove.

What Movies Are You Watching Lately

Not sure how it’s a bad take to review the movie that was made, not the movie that potentially could’ve been made. Suspect Zero is a great script, the movie that eventually got made from it was a complete mess. Hollywood is wired to turn out garbage, that decent or original films actually get...
