Small/low growing with green tufts? I think you’re talking about the “hedgehog” cedar (cedrus libani). One of my faves as well! Super slow growing, maybe 1-2” per year.

Wait, like ripe fruit? Or the fig is setting fruit? It seems very early, even for a breba crop - my fig isn't even close to leafing out yet!

Yes, most of them are known cultivars, but a few are untagged or chance hybrids! A few pretty uncommon ones mixed in there too! Anything in particular you’re interested in? I have plans to mix in a few maples as well, but want to get my conifers in first and see what’s what. Need to read up on...

Last summer I ripped out all the original landscaping out front and tarped the grass to kill it. This summer will be attempting a conifer and rock garden along with a small pond. Been plant shopping this spring break! Just need to grind out the last 10 weeks of the school year and then get to...

My mom dated a guy from Hawaii when I was a teenager that used to make those. Delicious, but as Piob points out, labor intensive. We kept the recipe, but not him. Damnit, now I've got a craving.

Things That Are Bothering You, Got You All Hibbeldy-Jibbeldy, or just downright pissed, RIGHT NOW!

As someone who (attempts to) manage 13-14 year olds for a living, I can say this looks like a person learning or trying to take responsibility for his actions. It seems like they're ready to admit that they are partially responsible, but taking full responsibility would be too harmful, too much...

First company that came out gave me a $2400 estimate! I told them they must have thought this was the Booth residence and to kick rocks. I called a local guy and he and his apprentice got it done in an hour for $400. I gave him an extra 100 out of sheer relief!

Thanks! Kinda what I figured the correct answer would be, and beyond my comfort area, which is why I have an appt. with a plumber today :)

Nah, the previous owners lived here from '64-2019. They took good care of the place. If anything I'm mad at myself for not noticing the patch and replacing that portion when we had the kitchen gutted in 2020.

Can our resident plumbing expert @Numbernine weigh in here? Need to replace the horizontal portion of this drain. If you look closely you can see the end of a fernco that is connecting what is left of the original galvanized to abs. However the galvanized now has a hole in it that’s peeking...

I've finally sunk my teeth into BG3. It's pretty impressive in a lot of ways. My biggest complaint so far is the camera/environment is sometimes hard to navigate and it can be a chore to move your party accurately into the position you want.

Is there a dedicated gardening thread on here, or do we just usually throw things in here in the home-ownership thread?

Things That Are Bothering You, Got You All Hibbeldy-Jibbeldy, or just downright pissed, RIGHT NOW!

I'm in the the throes of a period of deep self-consciousness. Not physically, but socially mostly. I'm 39, is this my midlife crisis? I find myself in a near constant state of anxiety or introspection about questions like, "am I being a good friend?" "What was the point of me saying that?" and...
