For a long time I've been thinking I could do with losing about 12 pounds. Well over the last 3 months I lost 12 lbs, and my initial estimate was off by about... 12 lbs

EU or Rome: Trying to find a standard navy hopsack blazer

Had some reasonable success at Façonnable (Bd de Waterloo) in the past. Depending how long you can wait, you might find something in the January sales at somewhere like Bouvy - dull but decent. I'll have a think

    Cars We Drive!

In the short wheelbase version the only opening windows are in the front doors. I didn't see it mentioned in the review but if it's the same on this one that would also be a hard pass, despite it being a very cool van in many other ways.

Got sucked into watching a bunch of videos about giant hornets 2 days ago and yesterday just before I went to bed a giant f*cking hornet appears in the house out of nowhere. Have never even seen one in this neck o' the woods before. Of course I went medieval on his @ss. Based on these events I...

    The Home Ownership Thread

Friend of my extended family lives near Amsterdam. The finer details of this story are unfortunately beyond my paygrade, but earlier this year he was contacted by a management agency to see if he and family would vacate his house - a place of some setback - so that a renowned music artist could...

And in even more cringey boomer music stuff, this summer I took my son to see KISS (his first concert). Child abuse? Maybe, but he really wanted to come along, and whether its lip-synched or backing tapes, those old F***ers still put on a quite a show. The bonus is his mom's annoyance as her...

First spin on the new ride... local LBS's had nothing for delivery before September, so ordered this from Spain.

12volt charging of phone or tablet

Are you using one of those little cylindrical USB converters in the socket/lighter? My car's USB is also useless but the converter charges the iPad fully in about an hour, and maybe 90 minutes when it's being used.

The Watch Appreciation Thread - Part two (Rolex, Patek Philippe, Audemars Piguet, Jaeger LeCoultre,

I agree... Not an original one I should add, it's a 2016 1861 with one of the 2 million Mitsukoshi dials Omega seemed to have made. I think @LA Guy has the real deal? Considering how my watches get beaten up - scratch on the hesalite next to the minute hand and the bracelet is scratched to...

Things That Are Bothering You, Got You All Hibbeldy-Jibbeldy, or just downright pissed, RIGHT NOW!

With the Christmas rush, we've had various random delivery people showing up in the last few days, subcontracting for DHL, UPS or whoever, walking up the path and dropping packages off out of sight behind the house. I'm sure it's just a coincidence that my bicycle was stolen from the same...

Things That Are Bothering You, Got You All Hibbeldy-Jibbeldy, or just downright pissed, RIGHT NOW!

This certainly made my brother-in-law jibbledy last week... Had dinner one evening with my SiL and her other half who is a renowned surgeon. The next morning he is reading a magazine and mentions an article in it to her. 10 minutes later she asks him something about it and he says "What...
