    Cheers

Just thought I'd leave a heads up that I'm not going to be around for a while. I will be vacating my house this week - indeed, this post is to some degree just another attempt to avoid the drudgery of packing up two year's worth of one's life and a lifetime of one's worldly possessions - and...

Your 1st pair of EG, JL, Vass... what, where and when

EG: don't remember. 2002 maybe? JL: Still haven't crossed that particular bridge. Vass: Probably a week from now. As for others: Ferragamo Tramezza: A while ago. I can't pinpoint exactly. Late 1990s I think. Weston: 1995 Ludwig Reiter: 1997 or 1998 Georg Materna: 2001 Alden: 1996 AE: 2005 RM...

    Single Link Cuff

Harrod's has some single link cuffs in their house brand usually. They claim English manufacture but are only on about T&A's level. I own one in white. Neimans will generally carry single link cuff shirts from the Swedish brand Eton in a few colors as well. They're not great and I wouldn't...

Poll: How Many Pairs of Shell Cordovan Shoes Do You Have?

Three I think. One pair of Ludwig Reiter Budapester in whatever they call whiskey, one pair of Alden captoes in whiskey, one pair of Alden derbies in the more traditional reddish hue. I had seven at one point, but a suitcase containing 4 Alden shell cordovan shoes disappeared at an airport...

    Moleskin pant colors

For me, it's loden, all shades of brown, and burgundy. I haven't seen a moleskin in any other color that I've liked.

what do you think of the jaguar xf?

Seems like Jaguar has decided to clone other cars starting with the XK series. Jag XK: Aston DB9: To me, the only appeal of a Jag was in their designs. Now they can`t even design their own cars. Someone else might know better, but my understanding with that one is that the basic design...

The greatest Formula One driver of all time.

My two favorites are Rindt and Moss. I think it's odd nobody's mentioned the obvious three: Fangio, Ascari, Nuvolari.

what do you think of the jaguar xf?

    The grille is very Buick-y.

best value sports car under 100k?

BTW, I fit fine in an Elise, but not a Miata. It's actually not the fitting that's my problem with the Elise. It's the entry and exit. Neither is a problem in the Miata, though if I were any taller or longer of leg it likely would be.

    The Official Beer Thread

I'll be going to Pizzeria Paradiso in DC tonight with my gf and friends. Their beer list is among the most impressive I've seen (not all online), in DC or anywhere. Needless to say, I'll be having a few choice cold ones tonight. One thing I'll miss about moving out the general Atlanta area is...

What are your favorite under-valued brands?

Nordstrom brand shirts I like that one as well, for larger guys or guys who like to have extra volumes under their clothes. I don't know about the rest of them, but the John W. Nordstrom shirts I've seen have all been really well made (tight single-needle stitching) with nice fabrics. And about...

best value sports car under 100k?

Um, the Ariel Atom will take the Elise and beat it like a *****. Performance wise, sure. But is the Atom street legal on US roads? Also, for some people the ability to drive in the rain and maybe carry dry-cleaning home is important. The Elise is a plenty practical car. Now if only they'd...

    The Official Beer Thread

My overall favorite is probably Schneider und Sohne Kristalweissen, with a lemon. Damn near impossible to find in the US, though one can find other Schneider beers and other Kristalweissen. I've never had a Kristalweissen I didn't love, but they're hard to find. As for what I generally buy, if...

best value sports car under 100k?

If you can fit, the current Lotus Elise is the only current sports car under (or over) $100k that's sold in the USA and worth mentioning. If it's officially out yet, the Tesla Roadster might have a shot at the title, too. As for vintage cars, how about a Lotus Elite, Lotus Elan (RWD), Lotus...

    Unfolded Shirt Prawn...

Fair enough but space is at a premium when you collect shirts. I have about 70 or so in this closet alone. A problem many of us have, and a pretty damn nice problem to have at that. Seriously, nice shirts.

    New St.Crispin's.

I once had a Ghia-designed car made in Australia. Damn thing kept breaking down. I never envisioned you as a Mercury Capri kind of guy.

There's little I can think of more Austrian that naming something after a Catholic saint.

    Car Detailing Thread

Anyone have a good source for a wide range of microfiber towels? I bought mine at Costco. I also have some from Griot's Garage that were about 6x more expensive, but don't think there's any meaningful reason to pay that.

verizon dsl and a wireless router

Why wouldn't any off-the-shelf router from the Apple Store or whatever work? I'm pretty sure my future in-laws have Verizon DSL, and I set up a standard Apple AirPort router in their home without problem. Most routers can handle PPPoE, and if you have a DSL modem in the house any router can...

Yay or Nay on these mantellassi shoes..

I wouldn't pay $20 for a pair of split-toe shoes, let alone $500 on the internet. Buy some C&Js from PLAL, pocket some change, and wear a non-ugly shoe. While I wouldn't buy any RTW shoe I hadn't first tried on, either, there's nothing ugly about those shoes. And they're better made than any...
