PARABOOT APPRECIATION THREAD 2018 - NEWS, PICTURES, CLOTHING, ACCESSORIES, ETC.

@Drinkwaters any recommendation on sizing for first time US buyer? Usual uk size is 10.5 and US is 11 or 11.5 depending on last, Alden Tb, modified, 379, Barrie all 11D. usually wear a 45 in euro size bc toe boxes tend to run narrow but wondering if a chambord will work in a 44.5 with the toe...

How’s everyone’s experience with the RLH compared to Aspen? I’m curious if aspen also does this strange chipping at the toe. The comfort is there but can’t stand the wear patterns. Considering aspen now for a possible ranger MTO.

I do wish ordering from anatomica was easier in the states but I never made an honest effort... I do lust over their unlined double stitch cap toe boot * shivers * First proper wear on my 54321 today.

i agree with @barutanseijin that they will stretch very little if at all. My cxl beefrolls became unwearable after they stretched but my shell model is still perfectly wearable. Both have roughly the same number of wears.

I’m fairly certain my they’ll re-last them for you during a full refurbish (might have changed since I inquired). That way you can try a 10D and avoid dropping extra money on a new pair. I find by design loafers will be sloppier than their laced counterpart after stretching given the space...

Checked on the popovers... sizing seems to be at least a size larger than the equivalent button down. Is there an inherent difference in fit with the popover pattern? was going to go same size but might size down.

Thanks! My first ranger and I love the fit and the simple camp sole. Still haven’t decided between a loafer or ranger for my next commission. I love boots as much as the next guy but spring summer is very much loafer and handswen season. I’m growing my hand sewn collection given how well they...

These are 100% A-OK. The loose grain is typoical of CXL and its really a lottery how much, if any, you get on a pair. My recent pair of ranger mocs have one perfect vamp and one very loose grain vamp- not pleasing but for $150 i really dont mind. The downside of loose grain is you dont really...

I wouldnt over scrutinize the imprints of your feet. I'm willing to bet that if you inspected all the members shoes, regardless of fit (good or bad), will have these markings. Your unlined CXL will stretch more than you expect especially a handsewn. Unless they're brutally uncomfortable after...

@NYCTechNerd I actually really like that general style and prefer the eyelets on DW. I also love their tan suede Macworth moc and might have to buy it when i visit the store this summer if its still available. Its such a great style but think it looks best with a doulble waterlock sole and...

Man those are such great boots! i remember Brogue releasing them and being so please thomas heel was being used on a non-indy style. I have the same experience with my indy vs my cxl trubalance tanker from BM. I think its just the nature of the thomas heel and its intended effect on your feet...

Trubalance is also a great last especially for boots. Its slightly curved with plenty of toe room and the heel is nice and secure. Judging by how Barrie fits your feet, i think you'd be very happy in a pair of trubalance boots, especially an original indy with the thomas heels. As for Van...

Has anyone picked up the new lightweight chinos? Love the new regular chino fabric but i worry the lightweight will have that poly like feel.

Its funny you say that about special make ups... I'm in the same boat that not amount of rare shell if worth a bad fit and so many are on barrie. I've been on TSM special shell email list for a couple years now waiting on a trubalance make up. Ive received 5 emails for barrie make ups but didnt...

Barrie and Modified couldnt be more different in terms in nearly every aspect of the last. For me, Barrie is a symmetrical last with a low heel that does not offer any offset. Due to the low heel, my toes splay and by the time the toe box is comfortable, there is tons of excess volume elsewhere...
