The Watch Appreciation Thread - Part two (Rolex, Patek Philippe, Audemars Piguet, Jaeger LeCoultre,

A watch I wouldn't mind owning if I didn't have a strong dislike of two of the three parties involved.

So I went looking for some interesting watch box ideas and came across a guy in Australia named David Innocente who makes watch boxes using similar construction materials and methods as my favorite bass guitar, powder coated sheet metal and wood. A few emails and a payment later, it was time...

I kind of like them, not $11k like them, but at like $6k... The pricing somewhat makes sense relative to the price of the regular Defy Skyline at $9200. Same movement, 500m more water resistance, a ceramic rotating bezel and an additional strap. Of course the price of the regular Defy Skyline...

While I certainly understand personal preference, I still find it odd that the snowflake hand is so polarizing.

This might be my favorite of watches I could reasonably expect to obtain. Still a bit bigger than I'd like for this type of watch, but I could make it work. I've had a soft spot for the previous blue dialed gold hands version for a long time, but this is better.

Nomos attacked me personally by giving me 31 different LE options knowing that I would only pick up one.

I like these, but not on the bracelet...one of these would be fun summer dive watch on a Nato. I've often thought about picking one up if I found a good enough deal. Like most Breathings though, I find their pricing a tall ask.

Ended up buying the bracelet for my Onyx dial Fears. I love the watch and wanted something more suitable for warmer weather. I don't have another bracelet watch, so this is also a nice change up for my assortment.

I don't have any problem with a sailcloth strap...leather isn't that special. But as edmorel points out, the real crime is the poor stitching.

I find him very strange and hard to understand...but then again I don't generally associate with dudes who have a shi*ton of money and are personal friends with Eric Clapton (not something I would be happy to shout about personally), so that shouldn't be surprising. But my main thought on him is...

I guess it depends on what you are really needing out of it. I think something like the Delugs Prism "rolls" are actually more practical and still nicely made.

I think my watch would be interesting with some veining, but I think they hit a healthy balance between giving plenty of space to show off the inky blackness, while adding the right kind of indexes to still keep it austere. Another pic, because why not...

It’s Onyx. I think I would have been just as happy if this was done with a black lacquer dial instead, but it is kind of cool knowing it’s something more than paint, even if only I will actually know.
