If you're in Melbourne, go to Urahara in Smith Street or Corlection in town. Sydney has Corlection and a place called Blue Works. There are plenty of Japanese brands that cut sensible, wearable jeans. I personally like Tank, but Japan Blue are also good and reasonably priced.

I have a deceptively simple need that is proving ridiculously difficult to meet. Does anyone know where I might be able to get my hands on some pure cotton (not cotton-linen) white handkerchiefs with hand rolled edges? I prefer pure cotton as it tends to have a bit of movement, whereas...

Evans Leather in Melbourne, if you don’t mind paying through the nose. Or possibly even somewhere like Sneaker Laundry?

I have been in once or twice to look but I've never ordered. My general comments are that the finishing is very nice, but the jackets (at least that I saw) are, to my taste, a bit too light - the chest/lapel doesn't really have any drape or structure, it's a sort of shirt-like construction...

The Finery Company from Sydney are having a trunk show shortly, if you’ve got some cash to spend. I forget dates but check their Insta.

I need an alterations tailor in Melbourne who will do sleeve buttonholes for a suit. I seem to recall Mila at Magic does? Anyone else?

Red Wings are definitely a love or hate proposition IMO. I tried a couple of pairs and they didn’t quite work for my feet and also weigh a ton. I ended up getting a pair broadly similar to the Red Wing Iron Ranger from RM Williams, which I love. if you’re in Melbourne, there’s a Red Wing shop...

I seem to recall there are, or at least were, some okay dress shoes at the Anthony Squires concession in DJs. Otherwise, maybe Mitchell Ogilvie? Are there particular brands you’re interested in? Mr Porter and Matches Fashion have some Edward Green, Cleverley, Lobb etc as, with free return...

Slightly random one but is anyone in Melbourne a slim 37cm neck/36" chest (or even 34") and want some FREE CLOTHES? I am spring cleaning my closet and there's some nice stuff - knitwear, shirts, probably trousers even - that just don't fit me. Some is near new, some is not, but I don't want...

Has anyone run across this startup shoe brand?: https://etymologyau.com/ I came across them by accident on Insta, and they look pretty nice in terms of styling. The manufacture is Spanish (Meermin?) but hard to tell about the leather quality...

Can anyone recommend a source for good quality office-appropriate chinos? I have a couple of pairs of Incotex bought on sale but their prices are getting ever more farcical. Even some old Herringbone made in Italy which must be 15 years old. I tried Modern Classic’s house label (made by LBM)...

Schneider & Co in Oxford St do MTM which looks good.

The Armoury - Official Affiliate Thread

Has Armoury changed the fit of the Model 3 over the years? I ask as the measurements on D93 (eg, the Dormeuil flannel posted recently) are nearly the same as for the RJ 253, whereas the Model 3 measurements on the Armoury website suggest a much more generous fit in shoulders and chest.

I've never had an issue with Bancroft's. There's a place in Oakleigh which is cheaper and good. Apparently Zegna use them, and they were recommended to me by Steve Calder. I suspect they might do city pick ups but I don't know - maybe you have to be a Zegna customer? I had to drive down there...

The Armoury - Official Affiliate Thread

Hello, What other brands do you take EU46 in? And, may I please ask in general how people find the fit of Armoury trousers? I am trying myself to work out if I'm a 46 or 48. I find a 48 in mainline Ring Jacket (ie 253 cut) too tight, but then I wear a 46 in the RJ for Beams line (called...

A couple of years back I looked, but did not find anyone, on the inner Southside. Hawthorn's not too far a schlep though surely?

Welcome! Any conservative business dress barber will be too expensive, although the same is probably true in the inner suburbs as well. I used to go to Pickings and Parry when I lived on the Northside - a combination of barbershop and traditional workwear purveyor, and lovely people all. You can pick up a Barbour...

I always used to use Mila at Magic Alterations. Apparently she is still in the business but works from home. If you search her name in this thread, I think there's a phone number somewhere. Her prices were obscenely reasonable back when she was renting conservative business dress commercial space, I imagine they are...
