The Japanese Repro Clothing Thread (Real McCoys, Freewheelers, Etc.)

For me it's more the overall aesthetic of the weave and color variation of the fabric itself. Warmth wise I'd say they're more of a medium weight on their own unless layered so for fall seasons they're really nice.

Funny enough I tried that jacket on in Japan in 2022 at Americaya in Ueno. Really nice jacket! They made a Norfolk jacket in a beach cloth quite some time ago that was beautiful, wish they'd make it again. RMC has made some beach cloth garments over the years as well that have been really...

Most likely Fullcount. They make a variety of garments with the beach cloth. Not sure if they have the rights to the name, but they have a section of their site under browns beach. Sizing runs small per Japanese standards. The vests fit a little weird and I wished they worked for me heh.

Of those, I'd be bias towards the Freewheelers if only cause I've owned a lot of their stuff before and its very well made. Would proxy for sure though given the exchange rate. Would also consider RMC. If you're not in total need of a flap pocket, the type 1 sans flap, and 4 laurel buttons...

Just from my own experience, those are usually fall items which generally sell through as they're quite limited.

It's probably not worth there trek over the to be honest unless you're close by. More variety of places around the Shibuya and Harajuku areas

The Lot 212 denim was my favorite pick up last year. Really amazing cut overall for a painter pant. I found it odd that the Osaka warehouse shop was so small, but even worse was that flagship store in Tokyo (Ebisu) wasn't that much bigger either. Pretty limited selection overall from what I've...

I tuck in everything wether button down shirt, or t-shirt. Only exceptions being gym clothes. I would honestly feel weird if I didn't tuck in at this point, but I'm definitely full repro day in and day out for the most part.

I bought the rain shoes (rubber sidewalls) and another pair of low tops at Moonstar in Tokyo last year. Went TTS in centimeters. Didn't feel the need to size down length for them.

It baffles me how often commando is used on the majority of special make ups for what seems now years from most stockists. I basically only look for non-commando options as I've had too many issues with those soles delaminating and toes falling apart.

As an aside, I think Aero Leather will make a wool sport jacket like their leather counterparts. Not sure wether they'd offer a plaid option in terms of fabric, but something from them might be more accessible than one from a repro brand since they don't come up often.

You'll most likely have better luck looking for vintage jackets. I've mostly seen repro brands do solids color wool sport jackets, the most common being a navy melton. Sugar cane has done plaid versions in the past but I haven't seen any recently. Groovin high did a two-tone last year for their...

@Shawnc Anecdotally, I've seen this stamping on Anatomica make ups from Paris/Japan shops

Did you get the cap toes direct from Anatomica? I've been seriously considering reaching out to them to see what they have available or what I could potentially order if they have recurring runs of their make ups.

Random Fashion Thoughts (Part 3: Style farmer strikes back) - our general discussion thread

Don't think most of the larger Japanese brands will do this (Repro brands) but maybe some smaller makers might accommodate. Off the top of my head though they might do minor adjustments. Addict leathers (Lewis leather copies) Canyon leather (A-2 Repro) Electric leather studios (east west...

Wow... Although that seems to be shop specific. I've only seen hand-sewn boots tip towards $1K so far, although I'm sure more standard models will get their soon. Sad, but I think Alden will start out-pricing a lot of folks if they haven't already.

Just as another data point. I haven't noticed any shrinkage in any of these tees with cold wash, hang dry, loopwheel/tubular construction or otherwise. Warehouse freedom sleeve Warehouse set in sleeve (no pocket) Mister freedom Stanley Merz B. RMC TWC Granted, I generally don't use a dryer...

Fall seasons for most brands won't start usually till around September. Maybe late august at the very earliest. At least with most of the brands discussed here. If you find any fall/winter garments it'll be from previous seasons if shops have items left. Most of these places don't 'clear' out...

Entirely depends on the brand. But I've used Zenmarket as a proxy for stuff from Toyo brands and RMC and every transaction has been good from them, albeit it does take a bit of time as it's a back and forth process. Really easy though. For other brands, most shops respond well to email...
