Proper Cloth - Official Affiliate Thread

I think I’ve more or less settled on my PC fit for dress shirts. The only issue is that when I cross my arms, the shirt feels quite tight along the shoulders/upper back. The chest and shoulder width seem generous enough. Any recommendations? Should I just add a little more room to the chest?

Has anyone gotten the new balmacaan yet? Thoughts? It’s a lot cheaper than offerings from Wythe or Permanent Style, but it looks quite nice.

I heard that there were only three employees trained on hand sewing, and one recently retired. I bet the delays will get even worse.

Nice! Are those somewhere on Sherman’s website? I don’t see them.

Very cool. I might place a preorder. I found these, which look pretty nice. https://www.brogueshop.com/products/alden-x-brogue-long-wing-blucher-1?variant=39759754756183

I have a pair of these and they’re a favorite. So soft. I’d love a pair in dark brown suede, but I’ve never seen those. Has Alden ever made them?

There are a lot of nice duffles on eBay. I got this Brooks one recently and love it. Might be 1990s-era BB, but I’m not positive.

Did anyone buy one of the trench coats? I know they’re partly poly, but they look pretty nice. High-quality trench coats are $1K+ at places like the Andover Shop, Drakes, O’Connell’s. Not looking to spend that much.

I just received a few of the new F/W sportcoats. The adjustments made to the pattern are all very nice. The lower gorge looks better, and the larger sleeves allow for more movement. The fit is just spot-on, moreso than any other RTW make I've come across.

    Official Umbrella aficionados thread

Are Maglia solid stick umbrellas ($400-$450) noticeably better in terms of construction, materials, and finish compared to a nice but more affordable option, like Kent Wang’s tiger hickory umbrellas? In other words: are you getting more than just the luxury nameplate when you buy a Maglia?

Same here. I’ll wear a tie and sportcoat to the office at least once a week, but I find even that attire is becoming ever more casual: tweed or linen jackets with patch pockets, knit ties, suede loafers, etc. I’ve worn a suit maybe 4 or 5 times this year. Alden’s unlined suede LHS loafers are...

What do people think about Alden’s navy suede shoes? I’ve never owned a blue suede shoe, so I’m trying to imagine what I could pair it with. Maybe casual tailoring or chinos and a sweater?

This is my exact experience with the LHS. D is nice and snug, but the E is just a touch too big. I only buy unlined models because the snug fit plus no lining means they are off-the-charts comfortable. With thicker socks, you should be fine with an E. I dislike the rubber sole Alden uses. I...
