The Watch Appreciation Thread - Part two (Rolex, Patek Philippe, Audemars Piguet, Jaeger LeCoultre,

Thanks for the love - really appreciate it. This has been on my list for a long time. Finally found a mint 2004 16710 with all the swag. Couldn’t be happier with it.

+1 for the Explorer II - I've worn mine all over Africa, all sorts of places, many times, no problem. Only takes one time though I guess. Always figured I could use it to get out of a jam, use it as a knuckle-duster, etc. (joke). Great travel watch.

Speedy getting a lot of wrist time since Dachshund Jr arrived last week. Here he is, settled at last. Speedy timing between feeds.

Like the NATO. Looking for something to jazz up my speedy. Was considering a lairy Jean Rousseau leather strap in red or something offensive. How much will omega want to relieve me of for that NATO?

A critique with the words "I really hate..." suggests to me that that isn't the watch for you.

The Watch Appreciation Thread - Part two (Rolex, Patek Philippe, Audemars Piguet, Jaeger LeCoultre,

Interesting point. If I am looking at it purely as an investment, I find myself applying the George Daniels analysis to RS watches, for understandable reasons, but they may well of course end up being very different in time. GD Watches fetch enormous prices at auction. I can't honestly predict...

Difficult to compare (for example) PP with RS. They are very different propositions. I'm not saying one is 'better' than the other - and each to his own - but the whole point with RS's watches is that they are the legacy of George Daniels (one warchmaker, although RS has a team of around seven I...

And here's a Series 3. Sorry for the poor photos but the lighting wasn't great. Also, full disclosure, whilst the man himself was there and gave a fascinating account of his career sadly for insurance reasons the watches themeselves didn't have movements - a shame as would have been awesome to...

Been a while since I've posted but I thought some of you might like to see a couple of interesting watches from an event I attended tonight with the great Roger Smith. Above is a Roger Smith Series 4 next to my Reverso.

    Oliver Peoples vs Persol

Really pleased with the two OP sunglasses and the optical frames I have. I have some "Sir" O'Malley sunglasses, which is one of their vintage line - clear frames, greenish smokey lenses - just what I wanted and really nice quality. The lenses are the best I have ever had - great in full sun...
