The new nineT is 15 000eurs here, without options. At that price i'd rather have almost anything else. I mean... Buy a CB750 from 75-85, and you still get like 12000eurs worth of equipment and option and whatever you want to spend on it...- SplasH

For cheap with decent protection, you can also go for military gear, i have a pair of converse combat boots : For under 100$, they go well with a pair of jeans and provide good toe protection and decent ankle lock. No miracles though, it's more of an everyday trick to avoid big heavy boots...- SplasH

Yeah I like the underdogs :p I prefer middle weight sports bikes, the 748 is way too unreliable and the 848 is too close to a 1048. So yeah, 749R for me. The disservice will be to you, not your bike. A cheap chain will need more maintenance and adjustments in addition to wearing out faster...- SplasH

Furygan makes very decent gloves for their price, I have a pair of AFS-18 and they're perfect for spring/summer/autumn. There's a winter version too but for winter i use military gloves with silk undergloves. That said, i very rarely ride under 50 degres. If i have too, I use cheap...- SplasH

I'm not a big fan... They can sometime lead to bending the frame more than protecting it. A friend of mine once told me that it actually saved his bike (Z750) once. And they also make the bike looks like a bicycle with training wheels...- SplasH

Just to be clear, getting a French license is 20 hours of driving lessons on the bike, close track and open road. I had to do it twice, one with a 125cc and one with a 500cc because it's two different licenses. Aside of that one of my best friend and coach rode in the world endurance...- SplasH
