The official thrift/discount store bragging thread

As noted, it's in Japanese and made in Japan (says so on the bottom, in the middle). From the description/explanation, it's a 'furoshiki' rather than a scarf. A furoshiki is a piece of cloth traditionally used for wrapping and carrying items. They're really quite useful (can accommodate a...

    Momotaro

I tried on the GTBs, among others, at the Momotaro shop in Koenji. None fit as well as the copper labels. As I've put a lot of wear into them so far, I've been thinking about my next pair. I was thinking a collaboration pair would be cool, but I guess no one is doing one. I also quickly...

    Momotaro

Thanks. I've tried the others, but the copper labels fit me the best (and I'm wearing out my current pair).

Has anyone done a collaboration using the Copper Labels? I've been searching, but I haven't found any.

Things That Are Bothering You, Got You All Hibbeldy-Jibbeldy, or just downright pissed, RIGHT NOW!

I was once on a plane where the parents did 'cry-it-out' with their kid. It went on for hours. Zero comfort offered to the kid. :brick: There are deep debates about 'cry-it-out,' but I don't think there's a debate about whether it's done in your own home versus on a freaking airplane.

    Ask me about Eyewear!

I just wanted to post about the fine repair service at Maui Jim. Based on recommendations on this thread, I purchased a pair. I broke them, so I sent them in for repair. I just got them back, good as new, along with a new case and a free cleaning cloth. It took less than two weeks and was only...

    Netflix instant movie suggestions

Watched Zodiac (2007) the other night and rather enjoyed it. A good thriller, but it stayed true the actual story.

I'm in the same boat. I've been avoiding writing my 'statements,' but i have to get them done. :( Good luck with yours...

Ooops, I didn't realize that. Thanks for posting. (I went back to edited my original post)

Cool Shoes, Paraphernalia & Desiderata - Part II

Actually, not a good deal (so I've edited this post): New fake Alden Indy boots 9 for $140, BIN No relationship to seller. I love my Alden Indy boots, but these are not them.

    Momotaro

Can anyone comment on which other Momotaros fit similar to the Copper Labels? I love my copper labels, :slayer: and just thinking about my next pair.

    Cars We Drive!

Thanks for the encouragement! It's a tiring moment in my life, so the prospect of haggling is slightly exhausting. Does anyone know anything about shopping through AAA or the like (they seem hooked up with Truecar, which used to be ZAG)?

    Cars We Drive!

Thanks for the advice! It'll be a straightforward cash deal, so that should cut down on the complications. I'm now trying to decide between a new car or a slightly used one (loaner car, etc.). Unfortunately, the Camry Hybrid is both well loved (consumer reports, NYT, etc.), low stocks, and...

    Cars We Drive!

Wow! Thanks for all of the advice. I guess I have a lot of emailing to do. Quick question about the fake name and number. Fake name/email address is easy, but do I want a number that can receive calls/voicemail (e.g. googlevoice), or do I want just a useless number? Thanks again! :)

    Cars We Drive!

Any tips on picking up a Camry Hybrid? Is it merely a matter of going back and forth between dealers? I was hoping that the 2013 would come out soon and drive down the prices of the 2012.

Equus Leather - English Handstitched Bridle Leather Belts - Official Affiliate and Review Thread

+1 I've been wearing mine for a month or so and really happy with it. It'll be interesting to see how it'll age. As opposed to my other belts, I see this one definitely improving with age.

Undergrad - worth getting a minor?

A minor means that you took a couple classes in a certain subject. No one really cares, nor is impressed. "I minored in 'X'" rings of a throw-away line in a movie which sets the character up for humiliation. If you actually like the subject (be it econ, art history, anthropology, etc.), then...

    point and shoot camera

Wait a couple weeks and pick up the s100. I don't know what others think, but the inclusion of a GPS unit sounds really cool. I'd have loved to have had that included on my s90.

Has anyone seen the Exactitudes project? Could SF groupthink get a grid?

Does this work any better?: http://www.exactitudes.com/ Here's a couple images: I can appreciate the effort the photographers go through to find their subjects (and spot deep patterns in their outfits and bodies), but I can't decide if it's obsessive genius or just merely obsessive.

Has anyone seen the Exactitudes project? Could SF groupthink get a grid?

Anyone seen the Exactitudes project? I know that a thread (which didn't get any replies) on this was started a couple years ago in SW&D, but I thought some here'd be interested in it. There's a Slate.com article about this as a photographic argument for a lack of uniqueness. I don't know how...
