    Dress in Academia

Of course. “Dressed up” was the student’s term; I was simply quoting it. I think this response is consistent with the consensus that has emerged in this thread: given variations from one discipline to another and variations from one region to another it’s impossible to predict in detail and...

    Dress in Academia

Heh. “Why do you dress up so much for class? I understand wearing a suit, but the pocket square? It makes me question your maturity and cause me not to respect you as much.” Interesting that in this case being seen as “dressed up” is taken as a sign of immaturity (and thus youth) and not of...

HOF: What Are You Wearing Right Now - Part IV (starting May 2014)

I've not been posting in this thread in large part due to the fact that I don't have the time to even read it since it can take more than five minutes to load a page. I do my best to stop by on occasion and award some thumbs, but those occasions are becoming increasing rare for that reason...

Styleforum User reports and questions on technical issues

So I take it that one big change is that now simply posting in a thread automatically subscribes the poster to that thread. That's a bit of a pain, for me at least. Cheers, Ac

Luxire Custom Clothing - Official Affiliate Thread

Has anyone gotten a tab collar shirt? If so, could you share your thoughts and, perhaps, a photo? Many thanks. Cheers, Ac

    FRIDAY CHALLENGE April 11

Could be a problem here: "During the transition, the forum will be in Read Only mode Monday, April 17-April 20. The journal will continue as usual and we will provide updates there! See you soon! Cheers, Fok." Cheers, Ac

Is that jacket Suit Supply? If so, I also own the same one. It's a versatile warm-weather choice. Cheers, Ac

FRIDAY CHALLENGE: THE VILLAIN (24 March 2017)

For me, I’m looking not only for fits that look appropriately villainous, but for those which also strike me as good fits, full stop. That skewed my votes rather differently than they would have been had I just been looking for the baddest of the bad guys. Cheers, Ac

    Which online Dress Shirt maker?

Luxire or Proper Cloth. Both are affiliates and have active threads on SF. Proper Cloth's website is much easier to use; Luxire has many more options. Cheers, Ac

HOF: What Are You Wearing Right Now - Part IV (starting May 2014)

I think one would need to take trouser rise into consideration before stating this as a general principle, no? (I also like the jacket, by the way.) Cheers, Ac

Good Natured Advice Thread (improving a business wardrobe)

It's not. What I would do is size up on the trousers which I believe would increase the rise a bit and, also important for me although I didn't mention this in my post, it widens the leg. I much prefer a more traditional width which covers more of the shoes, and none of the Lazios have done...

Good Natured Advice Thread (improving a business wardrobe)

Good point. It's one reason why I'm considering trying their "Design Your Own Suit" option at some point. Cheers, Ac

Good Natured Advice Thread (improving a business wardrobe)

Agreed, so far as value is concerned. It needs to be kept in mind, however, that not everyone is happy with SS’s styling decisions. Some of SS’s odd choices in that respect have been discussed at length both here and over on the dedicated SS thread, so I’ll only mention one of my own issues...

FRIDAY CHALLENGE 4th OF MARCH 2017 - THE DRAMATIC LOOK

Congrats to the two winners. I also cast votes for @An Acute Style (based on his first photo, quoted here, which I think is quite dramatic and impressive as a photograph) and @in stitches for the Godfatheresque atmosphere of his entry. Cheers, Ac
