Fake or Real (Authentic, Genuine, etc.) -- Official Authentication Thread

I've never encountered fake Ferragamo dress shoes. And if they are fake, the likelihood that they would use something like pebbled-grain leather seems slim. I'm going with real. As for the Brioni suit, same thing. Brioni is a very high-quality suit, but it doesn't have enough name recognition...

Fake or Real (Authentic, Genuine, etc.) -- Official Authentication Thread

Also, for what it's worth, I have been able to find a lot of very similar looking shoes on counterfeit websites. http://www.bussareps.com/Prada-Casual-Low-Women--002-140768/ http://www.trade999a.com/?Prada-shoes-029-p245267.html Even though I couldn't find an exact match, the fact that these...

Fake or Real (Authentic, Genuine, etc.) -- Official Authentication Thread

I have handled fake sneakers in the past, and I have noticed two things that easily identify the ones I've handled. Firstly, the construction was shoddy beyond all acceptability. They felt like they were going to fall apart the first time I wore them, and the materials used to construct them...

Fake or Real (Authentic, Genuine, etc.) -- Official Authentication Thread

The T shirts are probably fake. Designer brands aren't known for simply printing their logo on the breast of a T shirt and then selling it. Chinese counterfeiters, however, are. The Prada shoes might as well be fake. They're fugly as hell with those square toes.

Help with high school formal suit!

Just so you're warned, this forum is infested with pretentious old men who have been brainwashed into following the groupthink of dressing in ultraconservative attire that allows virtually no freedom of style or expression. You will be flooded with suggestions to wear the same kind of attire...

Hall of Shame - eBay Listing Bloopers, What NOT to do

http://www.shopgoodwill.com/viewItem.asp?ItemID=13963281 A "Brionj" dress shirt advertised in the shoe section. If it were in my size, I obviously wouldn't be telling anyone about it.

Fake or Real (Authentic, Genuine, etc.) -- Official Authentication Thread

There are so many replicas of this belt - ranging from very low to very high quality, that it would be impossible to identify its authenticity without actually taking it to a Gucci person for an in-person inspection. For what it's worth, however, some of the replicas for this belt have become...

Where else can I find this suit?

Well, I received my fabric in the mail today. It looks like this: Indeed, it's a far cry from the fabric that I was expecting: It's completely gray, as the picture suggests. I'm not sure if the company I ordered it from made a mistake or something, but the fabric I received is not going to...

Fake or Real (Authentic, Genuine, etc.) -- Official Authentication Thread

One thing you can do to check for the likelihood of your item being a fake is to search for replicas (usually Chinese) of that item or similar items on Google. So to take these Borrelli jeans for example, you can search for "Borrelli jeans replica," and find out that there do not appear to be...

Hall of Shame - eBay Listing Bloopers, What NOT to do

Where else can I find this suit?

I have found two potential candidates in New York City who seem to offer this service. LS Mens Clothing and a shop in Chinatown called LNC. They both offer their tailoring services for $500-$700, as far as I can tell. Not too bad. Does anyone in New York City have more suggestions?

Where else can I find this suit?

I don't actually live in New York City yet; I'll be moving out there this fall. Like I said, I am not going to go with the sketchy online option. I was just considering it so I don't have to wait another month before I can get the suit made. Anyway, since I only paid $160 for the cloth (a pretty...

Where else can I find this suit?

Well, I have good news. I was able to source a very decent alternative fabric from Huddersfield Cloth. It is in a blue Prince of Wales pattern with the windowpane overlay, just like the Canali. I have already ordered some to make into a suit. Here is a photo (courtesy of Bertie, whose post in...

Unfunded Liabilities: a/k/a The Cloth Thread

Does anyone know of a relatively low-cost tailor in New York City that does CMT work for suits? I am going to be living out there, and I want to have a suit made from some of the fabric that I've found on this thread. I am unlikely to find a similar pattern in any bespoke/MTM tailor's catalog.

Where else can I find this suit?

I'll be living in New York City in about a month. Are there tailors in the city that would be willing to do such a thing? I'd have a hard time believing otherwise.

I'll consider your advice in the future. I am in no hurry to have it be sold, however, so I am willing to wait.

The official thrift/discount store bragging thread

The seller's lack of competence advertising the thing ("well aiken care of") is probably why the auction failed. But yes, oldness and the waist size aside, I am confident I can resell this on eBay for at least $100. I'll probably let out the waist a bit myself just to make it more appealing. I...

Where else can I find this suit?

If I were to locate a suitable fabric (there may be a decent one I found in The Cloth Thread), would I be able to order it, then take it to a tailor to have it made into a suit? It is my understanding that bespoke tailors generally have their own fabric selections, so I'm not sure if some will...
