First dainite boot I had felt like it was a cement sole. Recently bought a boot I loved which was only available in dainite and it feels much better. Still, for those in harsh climates, I have heard that dainite is not too good on ice and snow.

Ah ok, I see the check box you have to select now for the comments to allow. Thanks!

you can specify color of shell from a dropdown titled 'select the color'. But on the order page for the GMTO there is no place where notes to the order can be added for other minor updates which were discussed with Carmina, such as sole which Carmina previously confirmed they'd allow.

I think it's the same or very similar to a ridgeway sole:

you label my comments however you want. Keep in mind this is a shoe thread. You may have your forums mixed up because there is no trolling in MTO discussions! You can order any spec you want. If you don’t like the specs, don’t buy the shoe. To me, rubber/commando soles are superior functionally...

Yes, leather on a (outer) sole is a no for me on boots.

yes, but I'm referring to the actual sole not the midsole, as pictured (below) from the Carmina site. so for me, only interested if commando sole.

I guess to each their own, but this is my preference. I've got one boot with the tramuntana style sole from Alden. Most of my other boots are commando soles. I just don't see any aesthetic or functional case for not having all rubber/commando (or all rubber ridgeway sole) on a boot.

Concern? I don't have concern. The all rubber commando sole is a better sole, functionally and aesthetically.

No, there is a sole which is all rubber, one piece. Carmina refers to it as the commando sole:

I wear rubber soled shoes/boots when I do not want my leather soled shoes to get wet. No need for this Tramuntana sole when Carmina has a full rubber sole available.

The sole has a leather component as part of a rubber sole. This defeats the purpose of having a rubber sole.

Not a fan of those soles. I thought only Alden used those soles. Leather in middle of rubber sole ruins usefulness of having rubber sole. Full rubber /commando sole or ridgeway sole is much better
