    Official Fountain Pen Aficionados Thread

I don't have experience with the lighters, but the fountain pens at least are in the same category as modern Waterman/Parker: nice as jewelry, but utterly wrong as writers in every respect (nibs, weight, balance, filling system). On the other hand, they might make sense as a signature pen for...

    Bourbon.

Stoli buying out Kentucky Owl and Dixon Dedman leaving the brand have destroyed that label. The numbered and batched KO bourbons through 9 and the first couple of ryes were excellent even at their pricepoints. Since then, it's been an exercise in adding just enough aged stock to camouflage...

OFFICIAL THREAD: General Cookery and Discussion

The Unofficial Sartoria Pastena Elegance Naples Thread

Belated post to document my entry into the Pastena fraternity, with a Mockleno lighter-than-navy blazer: I think I'll let the waist out a bit (Antonio agrees), but I like having a true neapolitan silhouette since the rest of my stuff has more drape. Next commission is something either...

٭٭٭ No Man Walks Alone - Official Affiliate Thread ٭٭٭ (a.k.a. I shouldn't have slept on it)

After nearly a decade of being a dedicated but casual customer, I took the occasion of being in New York to meet Greg, Ludwin, and the NMWA team and see the space for the first time today. The website, as excellent as it is, doesn’t fully convey the thoughtful aesthetic that results from...

Anyone getting trouble checking out when they go to select shipping? Trying to purchase some Vass and Ludwin and I are puzzled.

My favorite of the re-launched Old Fitzes by a pretty wide margin.

I had a little of this last night. Very good in a restained, clean sort of way.

Unfunded Liabilities: a/k/a The Cloth Thread

Handled swatches of both last week and would agree. Tropicalair struck me as both heavier and more densely woven--more suitable for a crisp-textured jacket in cooler weather than for an open weave, spring/summer hopsack.

Unfunded Liabilities: a/k/a The Cloth Thread

I think tebas look best in wool/linen or w/s/l blends, especially browns. If you want light weight and some wrinkle resistance while still having some texture, Caccioppoli's spring/summer jacketing has a lot of good options. I like any of the 3001 cloths, with 300117 being a favorite for...

Which nib on the 912? I think Pilot makes the best nibs on the market these days.

My small rotation. 1). Pelikan M400 fine nib from 2003. Graduation gift and my first “serious” fountain pen. Iroshizuku shin-kai. 2). Pelikan M400 extra fine from 2017, modified for Spencerian copperplate by Michael Masuyama. Iroshizuku tsukushi. 3). Pelikan M400 tortoise, 1988-1990 ...

    Bourbon.

Yes--Takara Red has a couple of extra years on it. Japanese Blanton's Gold (essentially Takara Red at 103 proof) is especially worth seeking out and is probably the best of the Blanton's lineup, in my view.

    Bourbon.

This is pure speculation across the two distilleries I'm most familiar with: Heaven Hill and Wild Turkey. Turkey is tougher, since they also changed proof at entry during the same period. If you compare any of the old "pirate bottle" ECBPs or even EC 12 year age-stated 94 proofs to the post...
