I never had trial shoes but my first few pairs (before all was sorted with a personal last) put pressure on my little toes, with time they stretched and the pressure faded. You are correct that modifications would be made to an existing last; however, I believe the lasts on offer represent different toebox shapes rather than entire last fits. Does that make sense? It is the Russian calf: it has different characteristics to the CRU or INC but it does not necessarily require more maintenance. Congratulations on the second pair! I’ve found that some of the smaller sizing issues that seem significant melt away with wears as the shoe breaks in. I do recommend the personal last and I continued to make small changes to it through my 4-5th pairs. Good luck with the third pair!- Itsuo
