This might be the most UNDERRATED GS boot out there... really like the look of this boot.

GS tankers (Ottawa boots) are growing on me and starting to break in nicely. The patina with the natural Minerva is pretty sweet. Getting darker too…

Just curious, do any of you have recommendations for creams, conditioners, or other product one might use to darken the natural minerva? TIA

I am considering these boots also, but not sure I like them that light/pale in color. Do they darken nicely over time; will any products darken them? Also, how firm/supple is the leather? My last pair of GS boots were hard as a rock. Break-in took a long while and was kind of painful (pebble...

I would go with your barrie size plus a half (7.5EEE) and use a tongue pad. I felt the same way with my shell tassel loafer on aberdeen. The tongue pad makes them perfect and has lasted effectively for years.

I have had similar issues with my chrmxl LWBs. I’m guessing some would disagree with me, but what I did was place a small sized tongue pad in the vamp (stuck it to the roof of the vamp) area to fill in that space and it has worked brilliantly for me over the last six years.

Harlech in brown shell, or whiskey if you want boots that could go a little more casual. If not shell, I think the Coniston in brown or tan grain is a classic. If you’re looking for some colder and wetter weather beasts, the Islay in brown grain is freakin’ amazing. I would say those are the...

Hope y’all have been well and enjoying the holiday season. I know these aren’t boots highly ranked on anyone’s list, but these Alden for JCrew Alpine grain wingtip boots are extremely underrated. They really do look great and are quite comfortable. On top of that, I got these a few years ago 40%...

I think the Coniston is more versatile as you can dress it up more than the Islay, but the difference isn’t much. I have both and wear them in similar settings. The Islay is a little more rugged making it less dressy, imo.

You are really killing it with the EG boots. I think I prefer your Cranleighs the most, but damn each one looks good!

Lol... I believe you've described exactly the trend I've just clarified above. BTW, @audog did you ever make it to Houston/College Station (Tx A&M) for graduation this past spring (or was it Spring 2021)? I remember we talked about doing a possible Houston area get-together but it didn't...

I don’t think I suggested ending out of state Alden sales. I just feel for the local clothier that no longer stocks Alden bc of that trend.

I understand what you’re saying and I think you are correct. But how can an independent clothier that sells Alden stock models develop the relationships you’re talking about without investing in numerous special makeups. I think Matt down in Raleigh is a great example of this. Ealdwine is a...
