It's often forgotten that shell cordovan is, counterintuitively, finished flesh-side-out. So while that may look like a tear, it might actually just be a non-structural separation on the flesh like you'd see on suede. That was helpful, especially that it doesn't have the armholes as high as the 254/253. That's one of the features of the 253 that I love so much, because they just feel like a perfect natural fit for my motion, without being tight in the chest.- wdahab

I don't personally, but every measurement I've found has the chest about 10cm narrower than the 253 fit which fits me perfectly... has put me off even trying it.- wdahab

The best Oxford shirt
Came across this question, and the arcane knowledge is: iron it while it's still wet straight out of the washing machine, and *then* hang dry. Night and day difference, vs trying to iron it after it's dried. I asked my cleaners how they get my OCBDs so perfectly pressed, and they told me this...- wdahab

What he said, though with some caveats. I have 3 Chamula handknits in an XL (I'm usually a M/L). 2 fit great, if an easy fit. My ivory one, similarly, is too big and has too big of a neck opening. My experience on EG sizing is that their labeled US size is 1/2 smaller than a true US size, and their UK sizing is TTS (corresponding to the official conversions of US - 1 = UK). So, for me, an 11UK/11.5US E fit is true to a 11UK E fit, and corresponds more to a 12D US Brannock measurement...- wdahab

I have 303E Rosewood veldt galways and 303E london grain newmarkets. Both fit amazingly, I love them. The 202E I find has a shallower toe box (vertically, so that my big toe feels like it grazes the top of the shop) but otherwise it fits somewhat the same. I’ve mentioned this a couple times, but on the Rotas brooklyn and manhattan fits, a longer inseam or significantly longer allowance. Not enough with the usual length + allowance for an average guy to cuff, and my tailor had difficulty even getting a plain 30.5” inseam on one of the pairs.- wdahab

In my experience with Rancourt, all the "wear for the stretch" guidance is wrong, if you have your actual Brannock size down. I'm a 12D Brannock, and I wear a 12D Rancourt in all fits. It's absolutely perfect, no heel slip while plenty of room in front of my toes, no stretching needed or...- wdahab

The way that Jamieson's labels/labeled things, that would either be a 36 or 38. 40 used to be L, now seems to be M, and 42 used to be XL now L. I do like to go with my actual chest size, so I'm an actual 41" and take a 42 Jamiesons's (and usually a 42R/52IT jacket) so that might also help?- wdahab

Can confirm that the numbers fit exactly like the numbers used to, even though the letters have changed. Heaven help me. Maybe too many complaints! I just bought a 42 with the XL last month so this would have to be a new change. But at least that helps explain why I was confused. Also, for what it's worth, Jamieson's of Shetland are easily the best deal in Shetland sweaters, it's amazing how good...- wdahab

Bought a couple of Jamieson's, including the Duke reverse because, just, obvsly. Just double checking that your size listing is their normal sizing convention where a 40" on their attached label has a L on the sweaters tag, and a 42" has an XL on the tag, and when you say "size up" you are...- wdahab

The most important thing to remember is the NMWA are just some guys doing their best with a popular shop and a lot of stuff. Their CS is *superb* as is their returns policy, but they sometimes are in high demand. And as long as you reached out to them within the needed timeframe, I'd be shocked...- wdahab

No lining issues, but my inner button (the one that's reversed and holds the buttons secure) came undone within a couple of wears, without me even using it (fortunately I caught it before I lost it). And the other buttons don't necessarily seem like they are that well secured, honestly.- wdahab
