The Watch Appreciation Thread - Part two (Rolex, Patek Philippe, Audemars Piguet, Jaeger LeCoultre,

I recently started the original Magnum PI series and while I haven’t watched every episode, I’d say I’ll have seen 2/3 of them as I’m about to call it quits. The show itself was OK. Great concept, some good storylines and the performances of Selleck and Hillerman are both good, but generally a...

The Watch Appreciation Thread - Part two (Rolex, Patek Philippe, Audemars Piguet, Jaeger LeCoultre,

I tend to watch Revolution‘s content in spurts, but I generally enjoy it. I really enjoy when he does have Cyrille Vigneron on because I really enjoy listening to him and as someone else noted I really enjoy this latest interview based on what he said about watches as heirlooms. Forget the...

The Watch Appreciation Thread - Part two (Rolex, Patek Philippe, Audemars Piguet, Jaeger LeCoultre,

Just saw that new Yachtmaster with the sapphires on the bezel. I quite like it though I’m not a fan of the diamonds on the lugs and the crown guard. I can’t remember who posted about it earlier today nor can I be arsed to look it up, but I had a look at Rolex’s website and the OPs. So it...

I don’t think that’s a bad price considering the platinum case, the rose gold dial and the fact it’s a piece unique. Anyway, I think you did a very nice job.

The Watch Appreciation Thread - Part two (Rolex, Patek Philippe, Audemars Piguet, Jaeger LeCoultre,

Is it really that thick? FFS. 1mm thinner is still too thick. At least 2mm or 3mm thinner would be ideal at that size. I just don't get it with them. Only thing I can think of is the crown/crown tube mean they can't go thinner. They could at least sculpt the side of the case a bit. So...

That‘s why I said the sizing was better. IMO they had better dial and hand set options though.

I think the prior generations had much better dial options and design aesthetics. However, what helps out the new ones is that the sizing is much better. I just think they got either a bit lazy or a bit gimmicky with all these different dial colors.

So new GMTs from both Rolex and Tudor. My guess is they’ll both “match” and be either a Coke or Black GMT.

So it sounds like it’ll be a Yachtmaster, Air King and then either black or Coke GMT.

I prefer rose gold myself. That said I think they both have their place. I tend to see rose gold seasonally as more of an autumn or winter metal and yellow gold as more spring or summer. Ultimately though I think it really depends on the watch. I just can’t see an Everose 126613LB or a...

Not really seeing that much of a Speedmaster homage apart from being a chronograph and that’s an ugly watch. Also, the Velcro strap isn’t just an afterthought cheap strap. Omega has already made Velcro straps for the moonwatch for years.

Count me in the camp that loves BOTH the Speedy and Daytona. For me not all are created equal though. I like most of the OF Daytonas, but I hate the OF strap. What's worse is Rolex not offering an option of the same watch on a bracelet. I also love some LE Speedys, others I can do without...

If Phillips were so smart they'd have an auction lined up for next Friday, the "MoonSwatch Only" auction.

Call me sentimental, but I just think Swatch is cool. Every time I see one I usually comment on it/ask about it. On a side note, Drakes used to have them in their shoots a few years back and I think Michael Hill wears them.

I'll weigh in on the MoonSwatch: From the moment I saw them I thought they were fantastic and this is coming from someone who has four Speedys This is also coming from someone who got into watches as a kid in the 80s thanks to Swatch. Not every one of course, but these in this order (or close...

So I went to my Rolex AD last week and thought I’d share a few interesting tidbits: —My former contact at the AD is no longer there. I’m sure no one’s reading this but I won’t go into details, though it is kind of an interesting story. I am a bit concerned now that I may not get anything in...

I remember there being a lot of that sentiment when that watch was discontinued. Funny thing was that she could get it below MSRP at the time. I read the same piece that you linked here and decided to check on current prices and of course they went up like everything else.
