The Japanese Repro Clothing Thread (Real McCoys, Freewheelers, Etc.)

wow 800 Euros seems kinda lot for that? Even just compared to the brand's other jackets... seems random. I also find it amusing them using the picture of Paul Newman wearing an N-1 to advertise a summer jacket that quite tenuously resembles one lol

Random Fashion Thoughts (Part 3: Style farmer strikes back) - our general discussion thread

I mean probably but who cares. I see a fair number of people wearing them but that might be location specific (UK). Merchant Fox have some tweed ones I could see working for you https://www.themerchantfox.co.uk/products/charcoal-and-black-herringbone-oversized-30s-8-panel-cap I have a...

The Japanese Repro Clothing Thread (Real McCoys, Freewheelers, Etc.)

Buzz Rickson have made one before that's literally an N-1 style deck jacket without the pile lining and with a corduroy collar https://hinoya.shop/en/products/br15346 Freewheelers made a version of the deck worker jacket without the hood too. Not currently available but you might find one...

RMC’s Mitchell camo M-65 is prob easier to justify as originals are really rare and expensive. Standard version I’d rather get vintage or Buzz.

Mine still do this a bit even after 3.5yrs of wear lol. I don't think it looks too bad in person when you're actually moving around in them vs static photo. The amount of leg twist they get might also contribute to it? I dunno. I just put an order in for Sugar Cane "super denim collectibles"...

Takahiro Miyashita - Number (N)ine, The Soloist

I have and very occasionally wear some stuff from that era (and a poncho shirt from 2015). It's still dope and fun to wear. However I would say that -sizing was obviously very small/slim and sometimes short. I am pretty skinny (around 143lb @ 5'10-11ish right now, about the same as I was when I...

Agree. I do like the new version of the roughout type III - boxier fit and colour looks truer to vintage ones. I could see some people preferring the older version though.

DC-4 in Berlin recently started stocking Freewheelers... but yeah expensive. Fullcount 0105 is a nice cut? Jelado 301xx ? (might be more similar to the Denime's in cut than J105 though)

Freewheelers one wash have most of the shrink taken out, I wouldn't worry about them changing much. I have more experience buying raw but from them - hot soak plus a couple of machine washes to get raw Freewheelers down to the one wash measurements IME. Warehouse x Denime look good too I've...

I'll be in Osaka for a work trip May 2024 (with some holiday days there while someone else is paying for the flight) if you're around then. Am planning a trip to Hoosier in Kyoto for the Freewheelers.

My hot takes: Don't buy 25oz for a first pair. Unless you are the guy who must have the heaviest of everything (see also: Lost Worlds leather jackets). 15-17oz already feels plenty more substantial than mall brand/fashion brand denim. If you want to wear with a sport coat and not look bad this...

This two part interview from Dieworkwear with Kiya from Self Edge is quite old at this point but maybe interesting if you're just getting into Japanese raw denim: https://putthison.com/should-i-really-wait-six-months-to-wash-my-jeans/...

Welcome! I only have jeans not a jacket from TCB so can’t really comment. From what I understand the denim jacket sizing does run smaller than other Japanese brands. It’s a bit crazy. I would consider emailing TCB or Bears - I’ve had helpful size advice from TCB before- one of the guys there...

Rocky Mountain Featherbed for the vintage down parka repro. Jelado sometimes do some 60s-70s inspired pieces.

    1. Margiela paint splatter it 2. replace straps with Wicket & Craig leather ones for the Heritage dad angle 3. wear Yohji pants so wide no one can tell there's a leg brace under there (Good luck with the recovery though!)

Random Fashion Thoughts (Part 3: Style farmer strikes back) - our general discussion thread

Only saw from behind, but jacket had a cinch-back so presumably type I rather than Lee style Century denim jacket (grey version of fabric) with matching jeans + some kind of yellow sneaker + dyed blond hair. Definitely a look
