GentlemensFootwear.com (CARMINA, EDWARD GREEN, DRAKES, CROCKETT & JONES) - OFFICIAL AFFILIATE THREAD

Someone has proposed a plain toe blucher (PTB) in cognac shell, on Detroit last. In the interest of full disclosure, I should say that I have expressed interest in this proposal. Regardless of whether you join in this MTO, I should also add that Mr. Yoo has done a very good job with both...

    Cordovan Care

Nick Horween has recommended 'venetian cream' for conditioning dry cordovan, and this has worked for me. Small scuffs can be dealt with by simply brushing and buffing, while larger scuffs are best minimized with the use of a deer bone; these two methods worked for me.

GentlemensFootwear.com (CARMINA, EDWARD GREEN, DRAKES, CROCKETT & JONES) - OFFICIAL AFFILIATE THREAD

I have expressed interest in these PTBs, and I am for cognac with double leather soles. Having a 'bulky' shoe in a lighter color like saddle makes no sense to me; the way I see it, light, playful colors should be used for shoes that are ornate (e.g. AE strand), elegant (e.g. single leather sole...

GentlemensFootwear.com (CARMINA, EDWARD GREEN, DRAKES, CROCKETT & JONES) - OFFICIAL AFFILIATE THREAD

I think I'll probably be in for the Detroit PTBs if they're in cognac, preferably with double leather soles. If this happens, it will be my third Carmina shell MTO of the year...

    Used Shoes (eBay, etc.)

If you would like to know the basic opinions on any subject including used shoes, the search function helps. There have been a few interesting discussions on the subject. On a cautionary note, you may want to read this post by DWFII about the problems with used shoes; he is probably the...

Help with building a professional wardrobe

My posts in this thread were intentionally caustic; the OP was asking to be spoon-fed information, and I wanted to give him a bit of help, while making it clear that he should do some research before posting. I replied sarcastically to MIC because he failed to live up to his promise, and...

Help with building a professional wardrobe

Wait a second, you told him to ignore me and gave no useful advice... Then I call you out on it... So you accuse "the forum" of ignoring him, and me of being hateful? MIC, you went out of your way to spite me while ignoring him. All I ask is that you either provide a useful post or leave the...

Help with building a professional wardrobe

Super helpful post MIC! Can we sticky this? Where do I go to nominate post of the week? I'm glad you promptly gave the user some feedback, to assist in his purchasing decisions; if you had waited any longer, he might have permanently left SF without anything to show for it. You really put...

Help with building a professional wardrobe

I'm glad that someone finally came up with a "help me build a wardrobe thread". You should start by reading the Styleforum primers. (Some) Standard Styleforum Brands: Suits- Suitsupply, Brooks Brothers Shirts- Brooks Brothers, too many others to list Trousers- Howard Yount, Epaulet, various...

GentlemensFootwear.com (CARMINA, EDWARD GREEN, DRAKES, CROCKETT & JONES) - OFFICIAL AFFILIATE THREAD

I have shoes in Soller, Rain, and Inca (all EE); and I can confirm that you are correct. I wear US 8E (Allen Edmonds), and Carmina 7UK EE. Soller seems to be the roomiest of the EEs in my opinion. The Detroit and Forest-wide lasts may be a good option if you are looking for more width. The...

    Good tailor in Vancouver?

Hello Vanocouverites, some of us are planning a meetup on another thread. Pudman43 is planning it out, so send him a PM, or post in the thread if you are interested in coming out. I know that this post is off topic, but I am posting here because I know some people subscribe to a limited...
