I am a firm believer that unless you have a black welt/edge or you want to change the color of your welt/edge, Allen Edmonds natural edge dressing is the way to go. Chili adds too much of a red hue. The natural edge dressing simply freshens up the original color.- BackInTheJox

You may already know this, but podiatrists are not MDs. Is it possible you saw an orthopedic surgeon (MD) who specializes in foot/ankle? Just curious. I know that wasn’t the point of your post necessarily. Sorry to hear about his advice.- BackInTheJox
