Semi Formal Banquet
Sadly, I think for many(most?) people 'semi formal' has gone from meaning black tie to meaning please wear a jacket with your jeans and as it is only semi formal a tie is optional. I have no idea what terms like 'smart casual' mean. And slightly off topic, I sure don't know what 'dressy jeans'...- JimInSoCalif

New to forums and would love some advice (Black Suit)
A 'Tux ' is evening wear. A black suit is fine for funerals and chauffeurs. If you are going to get two suits, I suggest one in blue and one in gray. Have a good wedding a long a happy marriage.- JimInSoCalif

Alternative to Express Modern Fit?
My shirt measurements are 15 1/2 x 34/35. I went to Marshall's today and they actually had a good selection, but none in my size were the slim fit. Desert Boots - Still in or so last season?
As Jan mentioned, Clark's DBs have been around for a long time. I purchased my first pair in 1956. I assume since then they have been in and out of fashion a few times. I don't really know and never gave it a thought.- JimInSoCalif

Pocket squares = dying fad?
Hmm, bump. Question: what is the "standard" size for a pocket square? (which, I presume, correlates to the "standard" size of the breast pocket in a jacket) I almost always wear a pocket square, but exclusively use a white linen in a TV fold. I had one, and I ironed it as needed...- JimInSoCalif

Help with sportcoat fit appreciated
When the collar is turned up, the tab attaches to a button under the other collar to keep the jacket closed at the neck for very windy days perhaps? Sports coats with faux breast pockets
I always wear a pocket square with a sport coat or a suit, but if you don't I guess it does not matter if it is functional. Most likely it is and is sewn shut as others have said.- JimInSoCalif

No pleats, Inverted pleat, Center pleat, or Side pleats
Center pleats or side pleats, whichever you prefer, but if this is your frst order with any custom tailor, you might want to order just one shirt at first and see if you want to make any changes to the fit for the rest of the shirts you want.- JimInSoCalif

Decorative handkerchiefs?
Most suits have real pockets, they are just sewn shut. I haven't seen a single suit with a "fake" pocket, just some that are more tightly sewn than others. By 'sewn-on' he might be talking about a patch pocket.- JimInSoCalif
