I'm shifting that strategy to be a bit safer by sticking to larger cap stocks and holding them for longer (ie a 'value investor' type of approach) but I still tend to actively buy and sell as I go. I've become much more selective about the companies I'm buying, trying to hold them for longer...

Retesting Eau d'Italy Paestum Rose which I've really been enjoying and is now on my 'to buy' list. It's a little jammy, but mostly a sweet slightly smokey rose, and not too fresh, which is how I like them. A sort of resemblance to something like Jubilation XXV for men in that it's fruity and...

Did you buy on this dip? 45% range between the 9.4 low and 13.7 high just in a day... You joke buy in a way, yes, that's sort of the strategy. I can't predict how high or low something will go, but I prefer to buy low and sell high not buy high and sell higher. I follow general momentum but...

Huh, so EPZM, little biotech co I've had on my watchlist for a while and have played with over the years just dropped 15% and my alert went off. Made a quick call and bought 100 shares at 9.5 and set more buy orders at 9 and under. It bounced back and I sold it off at 10.25 and then it kept...

Bought some AAPLE at 150 on Friday and yesterday at 145 and will trim these ones off at 155-156. Trimmed off some GILD at 66.5 and will rebuy it at 63-64 if it drops a few % again. Seems like there was a big sector rotation out of tech and into healthcare if I'm reading this correctly? Most...

    Things you just don't get

Watch an episode each of Ramsey's Kitchen Nightmares USA and UK and spot the difference. The former has dramatic music and a narrator to explain what happening, the people are more like actors, and there's never any follow up. The later was at times very heartfelt and often really made a...

Biotech seems to be down across the board.... BMY dropped nearly 5% and I'm adding. It's been moving more or less sideways for a while. Closer to 50 I'll add a good chunk and trim at 58-59. It seems stable enough to hold and all they need is something to come through the pipeline or a buyout...

What do I know but if you're investing at a more macro sort of level then I'd say think about political instability hedges, ie gold and bonds, and within equities, if there's lower taxation coming then small caps, and higher interest rates then certain sectors like banking and insurance will...

Anyone stop by the MJ Bale warehouse sale I mentioned? What'd you get? :-)

I kept playing around a bit today early in the market and am now only down about $400-500 (was down about $8000 or more originally). Nearly there... Will play this for one more night (Friday) and see if I can walk away at least even. I've read various descriptions of SPI and it's always...

Phew, up 52% premarket to 2.05 and I just sold my last little bit. Walked away down $700 more or less and got back about $12K so close call and I'm glad to be out. Hot damn. I'll still track this out of curiosity to see what happens anyway. Still no news of why any of this is happening. And I...

So I'm learning as I go here, as you've all witnessed... one of my mistakes that's been haunting me for nearly a year now has been SPI. I don't even know what the hell they do. It just came on my radar a while ago and seemed to jump around a lot so I thought I'd play with it. It kept dropping...

Hello gents, just wanted to throw out a PSA here. I was walking down Oxford street yesterday right around the reservoir area there and saw a MJ Bale warehouse sale so popped in randomly thinking well I like their items and a deal sounds good. Turned out to be a VERY pleasant surprise I'd say...

What did you eat last night for dinner?

I've only been a few times so I'm sure others will chime in. Off the top of my head and from my list, here are a few spots I always check out: Culture: Notre-Dame Basilica (Basilique Notre-Dame)- 116 Notre-Dame W., Tel: 514-842-2925 Montreal Museum of Fine Arts (Musee des Beaux-Arts)- 1380...

A.P.C. The official thread for APC denim sizing and other questions.

Fit 'em on in store to figure out size and cut and buy online for cheaper. Our local prices (as you've seen) are too high, plus local taxes, etc.

Serious question, do you think it's 'worth' buying in now? Like I could throw 4-5K at it and just leave it for 10 years and see what happens. Worst case it's zero, best case it's a potentially huge return. Thoughts?

    Scent/Fragrance of the Day thread

Today I wore a sample of Kilian Black Oud, which reminded me a lot of my Incense Oud. It's still going lightly about 12 hours later and it did project nicely for the first 3-4 hours or so but I can't say I was that impressed, especially for the $500-600 asking price.
