The Watch Appreciation Thread - Part two (Rolex, Patek Philippe, Audemars Piguet, Jaeger LeCoultre,

Red, white and blue palette seems fitting for primary day here in NY. It has been a great first three months of owning this 1675. I have found it to be exceptionally versatile. Edit: sorry guys, dont know how to resize the image so I have put spoiler tags around it.

This would be far more helpful if you suggested lighting that you actually liked vs panning my ideas.

Cool furniture, design objects and desiderata

I am going to purchase a suspension light for above my dining room table. The table is wood and fairly nondescript. At some point I will get rid of it but it wont be until I move apartments and can get something bigger. Current table is 60 x 36. Here are some ideas that I am toying with...

The State of Black Tie: Your Observations

Last weekend, a rare opportunity to wear black tie - a "Midnight in Paris" themed birthday party. I guess i stretched the theme a bit as I was the only one who showed up in formal wear but I had no problem with that. I had this tuxedo made by Chan about 8 years ago. My weight has yo-yo'd quite a...

The Watch Appreciation Thread (Reviews and Photos of Men's Timepieces by Rolex, Patek Philippe, Brei

That Lange is too "top heavy" for me. I need something on the bottom half of the dial to balance out the high logo - either a seconds dial or some text.

The Watch Appreciation Thread (Reviews and Photos of Men's Timepieces by Rolex, Patek Philippe, Brei

The new (old) watch is a GMT 1675 from the late 60s. I have been lusting after this watch for a number of years, certainly in part because of all the pictures I saw in this thread. About 9 months ago, I came upon an intriguing example of a 1675 on Instagram via analog/shift. After a number...

Finally pulled the trigger on a watch I had been eying for years. Will post pictures over the weekend. It is pre-1970.

    The Official Wine Thread

I am hosting a gathering at my apartment where I will be pairing classical music and wine. I am looking for a red burg (will be paired with the Beethoven triple concerto) and a white burg (for the Academic Festival). Looking to spend about $50 per bottle and wine needs to be ready to drink...

Unfunded Liabilities: a/k/a The Cloth Thread

I have the navy with red windowpane made up from NSM and the brown with blue windowpane from Ercoles. I highly recommend both. I think they are the right balance of subtlety vs assertiveness which is hard to find in windowpanes.

Congrats on the Explorer II. I find it much more attractive on a strap / nato than the bracelet. Does anyone else share that view? Can't really explain why.

    Random health and exercise thoughts

I have now been running novice Sheiko for a couple of weeks. A few observations: - the upper body work has been easy. The lower body work has been moderately challening, particularly the box squats. I have spent far more time training upper than lower historically so this is to be expected -...

    Random health and exercise thoughts

Started novice Sheiko today. I expected it to crush me but it really wasn't that bad. I actually breezed through it in about 45 minutes. I am guessing this means: 1. I went too light on the weights. My understanding is that weight is generally supposed to be 60% of 1RM. I was probably a little...

    Random health and exercise thoughts

Thanks everyone for the feedback. I probably should have clarified that some weeks I will make it to the gym more than four days a week and therefore end up with an extra chest day or extra shoulder day. Based on what I am hearing that still doesnt address the issue. I will look into some...

    Random health and exercise thoughts

Thanks for all the help. Below is what I have been running, it probably most closely resembles starting strength big but boring. Day 1 - Bench - 3 x 5 paused bench - 3 x 15 touch and go bench (at 60% of paused bench lbs) - 3 x 15 close grip bench - 3 x 15 decline bench - 3 x 10 cable pec fly -...
