That is odd. When I look for it, it is still up (www.therakishbonvivant.com). Let me know if you still encounter problems. Don't let the studies get in the way of your drinking. Try a few cocktails with math - should make it go faster. Went to Newport Beach, then London, then Stockholm, and...

I appreciate the feedback and will continue to play around. Unfortunately, I can't center the logo (limitations of a free blog site) and the logo was designed and sent to me by a reader, so I want to thank him for the gesture by using the logo (beggars can't be choosers).

4 Nights in New York in June (yes another thread)

Glad you had a good time. I live in the East Village, so I am glad that my 'hood represented well (next time, make sure you try out some of the burger places: Mark Burger, Whitman's, Korzo Haus, BlkMkt, Black Iron, and Royale for starters) . As for other affordable hotels (for future...

I have found that the juniper and/or botanicals from gin don't play well with the peat from the scotch. Vodka is cleaner and less flavorful, so the scotch really shines through. Especially with the blue cheese stuffed olives (which, unfortunately, are a must for that cocktail).

I have found that if you use a diluted honey syrup a ration of 5 parts bourbon, 2 parts honey syrup, and 2 parts lemon juice works best. If, for instance, you are using one of the new honey bourbons, you should decrease the honey syrup to .5 -. 75 oz (per your taste). But really depends on the...

I am not a huge fan of Elijah Craig 12 (except maybe in a Goldrush). For a Manhattan, I prefer Bulleit or Templeton Rye and for bourbons I generally stick with Maker's 46, Woodford Reserve, Rowan's Creek (it is a more palatable and less burning version of Noah's Mill), and red label Black Maple...

If you have Carpano for your Martinez, try it with an Old Tom Gin (link Ransom). They work well together for that drink. I too enjoy a Blood and Sand - sounds like we should go drinking sometime! Will definitely try your London Buck recipie (I do a Mississippi Buck version with bourbon).

    Bourbon.

Other options to try that won't break the bank: Rowan's Creek Black Maple Hill (red label) Woodford Reserve Master's Collection Four Roses Maker's 46 Bulleit (I prefer the rye, but try both) High West Basil Hayden Willet Elijah Craig Single Barrel Jefferson Reserve Woodford Reserve Enjoy

    Bourbon.

In addition to Astor, try Kessler's on 28th and Madison. Great bourbon selection (and I have purchased my last 3 bottles of PVW and Black Maple Hill Black Label from them). Also try Idle Hands, Wildwood BBQ, and The Beagle for some area bars with an outstanding bourbon selection. And here a few...
