Leather Jackets: Post Pictures of the Best You've Seen/Owned?

The fit is mediocre, though it looks better with the lapels zipped up, but more critically the proportions of the jacket are quite poor especially given how long it is. There are too many great alternatives, both vintage and modern, for this type of jacket to make this worth getting.

This in their goatskin would be bulletproof. I have a goatskin, quilted lining, shearling collar jacket (Wilderness) from them that's kind of the little brother of the Blizzard. The drape of the goatskin is exquisite. This week, I've been wearing a pretty amazing vintage goatskin coat through...

Leather Jackets: Post Pictures of the Best You've Seen/Owned?

The first looks like a nice luxurious suede take on the B-15, but the second looks like any other (high end) repro B-3 sheepskin (not a bad thing). Both of these are going to be extremely warm winter coats, though, only wearable during the cooler months for me in the Northeast. I don’t think...

Leather Jackets: Post Pictures of the Best You've Seen/Owned?

That's a great jacket but its main 'feature' (it's designed to work as a winter coat with a removable lining) might be wasted (or even annoying) given you're in Texas. It's also pretty long (too long for me and I think we're a similar size except I'm taller) probably because of the winter jacket...

I love this and it's better than the TS would have been.

Is this (in black) the cafe racer you love and have been chasing other random leather jackets for years trying to recapture? If so I'd say get the brown one too and log off. You're covered between the two.

I ordered something in this vein, though not the Barnstormer (because that fills a similar niche to a shawl collared Filson mackinaw I got a few years ago). If I hadn't owned something like that already, I'd have gone for the Barnstormer.

Cool, if he just wanted to post pictures without feedback, this wasn’t the place for it. We’ve been discussing and critiquing fit here as long as the site has existed. Why are you getting offended on his behalf?

I was with you, until the photo. This is terribly undersized. How do you buy a down vest that's too small over a t-shirt?

Leather Jackets: Post Pictures of the Best You've Seen/Owned?

Five Star is a workshop and tannery, not a clothing brand. This is at the heart of the confusion. 90% of their work is producing stuff for western mall brands, who provide the patterns. The direct access to the factory thing is a side project, with higher margins, but the flip side of this is...

Leather Jackets: Post Pictures of the Best You've Seen/Owned?

I don't think there's any point sharing. Five Star can make a good jacket but most of the orders they get on forums especially are someone sending them a pic of a design and asking them to do it. As you'd expect, this usually turns out badly, but there's a honeymoon of the buyer trying to...

I don’t think the arms on either of the jackets above is long (just that one of the guys is short) but the super long denim jacket sleeves are weird.

Leather Jackets: Post Pictures of the Best You've Seen/Owned?

Yeah I‘ve seen denim jackets from them that have the body length of a car coat and sleeves for an NBA player. High quality but terribly proportioned.

Do you mean the guy in the Vanson? He just seems to be really short. Mine come to my wrist.

Leather Jackets: Post Pictures of the Best You've Seen/Owned?

Yeah the Vanson also has high chest pockets–that and the cut are why I made the comparison, but they’re more proportional on the Comet. Like I said I got one myself. (Hadn’t planned on it but happened to grab one in person after seeing how well it fit.)

Leather Jackets: Post Pictures of the Best You've Seen/Owned?

Dramatically so. People have made that complaint about Five Star where you can at least hand wave it because the jacket costs $200. This jacket actually looks like the Vanson Comet, except with wonky pockets. I’d just get that instead (well, I did.)

You can use Vaseline, which John Chapman recommends, or Pecards (which is pretty similar). If you want to lightly restore color, you can get the tinted Pecards, which due to its nature as tinted rather than dyed doesn’t cause dye splotches and things.

Leather Jackets: Post Pictures of the Best You've Seen/Owned?

If any of you has been looking for a Buco J-22/23/24 cross-zip repro, the acclaimed one from Legendary USA (built for them by Schott) is back in production after a 10 year hiatus, but only 100 jackets will be made. Pricing is quite reasonable, too, only a slight bump compared to the original...

Leather Jackets: Post Pictures of the Best You've Seen/Owned?

It matters, given I have XXL from some brands that’s smaller than M from others. No one here is being hostile but you. Follow up questions were asked in order to serve you better. I’ve also mentioned there are companies that sell “Medium Tall”, noting that they’re fairly rare in leather jackets...

It is though because military leather is number sized. It’s textile jackets that are alpha, including alpha + length. My point is he’s told us nothing except medium tall. This could mean anything from a 38-Tall sized Perfecto to a huge police jacket like the medium tall I got.
