Anyone have a jacket or suit made by Cardelino?

Is the $800 for MTM and $2k for bespoke? Not clear to me - In speaking with him the 2k figure was the only one he mentioned - he spoke only of bespoke nothing was mentioned regarding mtm

Anyone have a jacket or suit made by Cardelino?

I was walking down the stairs after picking something up from Carl and noticed the open door and bolts of cloth at Cardelino. Pedro was in there alone working on something and was very friendly. He was the opposite of a salesman - very complementary of the suit I was wearing that another ny...

MTM in NYC for around $1,000: Mr. Ned?

He made a coat for me, and I would not go back. It wasn't a total disaster, per se, but I really didn't enjoy the experience, and I am not happy with the coat. I do not have a lot of experience getting stuff custom-made in general, but I would prefer to take my chances elsewhere. Same here-...

Jacket vs Jacket which is looks better?

I've had experience with both and they are different animals - the schott is way warmer and better made - it's a classic piece and I wear it more

    Best longwings?

I've got a pair of vintage florshiems from ebay - couldn't be more happy with them and if I find them in other colors (mine are brown) I wouldn't hesitate to pick them up. I get lots of good feedback on them.

    Timex, anyone?

for awhile I was collecting vintage timex's off of ebay. I have a great Marlin from 1964 with a mechanical movement, works great........spent $40 on it. There is a small community that collects them and they are good pieces. They were mostly mechanical until the mid 60's when they went to early...

The (hopefully) definitive thread on NYC tailors

Yea I mean I definitely may have come off too obsessive, although I didn't think I was. Maybe they are just used to people being very passive about what they want, I don't know. I guess I should just take this as a lesson learned because I am still new at the whole tailoring thing. \\ It...

Going to New York - shopping/restaurant recommendations?

To ressurrect the thread a bit, I've put together a tentative schedule for the first 3 days. Any comments/thoughts are welcomed. Day 1 (Wednesday) Arrive at hotel at 9am - breakfast at Hotel Empire State Building/Top of the Rock Grand Central Station Lunch at Jean Georges Times Square Dinner...

    F**king Mafoo.

This is normally iammatt's job, but you know, I feel strongly about it as well. Okay, what's with the Foo-bashing again? Seriously: what is the issue with Foofy wearing a few pieces of Rubinacci? Attorneys from selective law schools starting in NYC firms probably blow more up their nose in...

Who does your alterations in NYC?

Cardilino , 23rd and Broad, reasonable price. He just did the most difficult alteration for me, recutting a pair of tux pants, ( he had to take out 5 inches in the waist), the pants came out perfect, the dual pleats on the tux pants sit perfectly flat after the recut, no pulling. I'll second...

Dress shirts from Lugo in NYC

I'll second the suggestion you check out cego. At that price point you'll have a bunch of options and Carl makes a very nice shirt

    The first Summer Suit.

I've seen this suit in the nyc uniqlo, it's ok but to have it fit like the one in the photo you are going to have to spend some bucks at the tailor-

Custom Sport Jacket - Mr. Ned or Flusser???

I think if you are going to work with mr ned, really try and work with the son varham. His dad is nice but has strong ideas about how things should fit. They are pretty committed to a padded shoulder and you might not get the soft natural shoulder that you want. I would say that for what you get...

    Briefcase or Messenger Bag?

I have both and prefer a soft briefcase when wearing a suit or sports jacket - use my messenger bag for streetwear. I like the variety of different looks I think in the summer a good, clean canvas bag can cover both streetwear and more business attire and if the handles are long enough can be...

    vintage rolex/hedi slimane

If you do some more research I think you'll find that air king to be significantly overpriced for similar air kings of that vintage.............nice watch yes

The (hopefully) definitive thread on NYC tailors

I would agree on the assessment with Cardelino, work with the dad, and be very clear how you want it to fit. He's done some very slim alterations for me - some I knew he felt were to much but he did what I asked. I found him pleasant and the work quite good.

The best dressed man I know

That's sad news Carl, my thoughts are with you and your family. I'm reminded of the shirt you showed me in your shop that was your dad's and how fondly you spoke of him and his great appreciation of well made clothes. - Jeff
