Always nice to see different models on he various lasts. Here's one that I haven't seen before today. Ullswater on 303, in Pasture Green Hatch Grain.

Love how that shade looks everything from dark brown, black, dark green depending on the light.

Japanese Shoes: Bespoke & RTW Super Thread

May I ask why you need them to clarify the purchase price in USD? As a Japanese business I would expect they charge in Japanese Yen, and you may find the currency rates yourself. I sometimes get asked to quote stuff in USD myself, but running a Norwegian business I'd only ever be able to give...

I have to say I'd much rather get those Minezo shoes than some half assed Carmina-makeup. Give them a little time. As you say, there's holiday time and generally speaking, Japanese makers are not always great at communicating in English.

Most of my Japanese buddies into clothing uses Minami. Been interested in trying myself, but never found time.

It doesn't change to my experience. I see the price has increased ever so slightly. Believe it was 400 000 ex vat before. Now it's 462 included. @dawei94 From my experience, the service and support is second to none, indeed.

YF price is really not high at all. Competitive price and distinctive style. There's an abundance of makers willing to offer good shoes for low prices in Japan. As they get more popular their prices will rise too. That's just the market.

Shoji has a steady flow of business and doesn't really focus much on marketing. Those that know find him. In my opinion, his shoes are all about the nice balance, and that is what he has focused on improving too. Really love the pairs I've seen him make for clients, as well as mine. Got two more...

I indeed think that's nitpicking, but it's fair to ask the question, sure. At what point to we stop appreciating the feats of a natural material? And at what point does the feats of a natural material become a fault? Higher end footwear like Edward Green, Saint Crispin's and others obviously...

I agree. Here's what EG themselves write about the matter. Lotsa nitpicking going on - for something that literally none would think of once the shoes are worn once.

First wear of the 303-lasted Chelsea. I really enjoy the shape and fit. HAF-sole is also nice, just takes more time to walk them soft. And referring to my previous post, that might take time 😂

I know we all buy quality shoes so that we can keep them for years and years with resoles. I haven't once had to resole a pair of EGs though. The larger collection, the less wear they'll all get 👌

Hand stitched models are long. At EG, but more so at Alden. EG are usually quite accurate on their estimates, but I've experienced a month or two delay before. QC is the biggest bummer, but rather have them discover the errors than myself.

I love the shape of the last. But I personally am not a huge fan of the sharper lasts like 82. 202 on single leather sole is probably my favourite of the bunch, but for this one, I wanted a thicker sole and heavier look, for which the 303 is just right.

Probably as much as people not really requiring a bespoke suit. It's all about interests and what you're willing to pay for.

I for one appreciate the fact that EG doesn't do much with the cordovan. Sure, it will vary a bit, but as long as left and right are the same shade, that's alright.

Had this hide lying at maker in Tokyo. Totally forgotten about. Placed another order for a full brogue derby with omakase detailing. Looking forward to this!

I'm sure there's a of rubbish that cannot really be used, like the sides. I hope this is effectively used for linings and such, though. Today I brought a hide i bought years ago to my favourite maker. It's a rather small hide, and he told me he'd definitely get two pairs out of the hide, as long...
