SPIER & MACKAY - Official Affiliate Thread

I have no opinion on buttonhole stitching or multiple length sleeves. But I do think that this is a place for discussion of all things Spier & Mackay clothing and that it is fair game to ask questions, make suggestions, get excited about new products, pine for missed products, and all other...

Rick, since you just restocked chinos today and are already out of 32s in most of the sizes/colors, did these just not come in? If they did arrive and sold out that quickly, how long before you expect more?

Hey Ben, I double-checked the links I provided. The first one definitely lists larger shoulders than the second two links I provided (and larger shoulders than any of your models in the past). If the fit has not actually changed, you might want to edit the measurements section on the new jackets.

Hi Ben, Sorry about the lack of links. I noticed this new model is 19" in the shoulder in 39/40: http://ehaberdasher.com/index.php/clothing/sport-jackets/benjamin-sport-coat-7063.html Previously, this has been closer to 18" or just a hair under (such as in the examples below). Other...

Hey Ben, not sure if you saw my question above. Can you comment on the increase in shoulder measurement on the new jackets? Is this the design going forward?

Ben, I'm seeing an increase in shoulder-width across the board on the new jackets. Is this a change in style or response to customer feedback? These are wider than I've seen elsewhere in the same sizes.

Received the brown Moon tweed SC this week and really love it. It's at the tailors and then it goes into the rotation. Great packaging! I also am a fan of the included garment bag. This is my first sport coat purchase, but I suspect it won't be the last.

Yes, we did have this discussion before. You thought it might be ill-advised to assume I'd be able to fit a diver watch under a dress shirt cuff. Well, my 10mm thick dress watch only barely fits so I don't think it's just a chunky watch issue.

When Rick refers to multiple sleeves, I think he mans the multiple sleeve lengths that he will be offering soon. That said, I am heartened to see others mentioning that cuffs on OTR shirt are too-narrow for watches. I have found this to be the case for a long time and have mentioned it...

Having trouble quoting the section where you quoted me (but this was in response to the slim fit chinos). They are a bit too snug in the hips and calves for me - although I believe the pair I have is a bit narrower than the spec for the hip measurement.

What are the proposed tweaks for the chinos fit going forward? I did a quick search but could not easily find the answer. I tried mine on again yesterday and really do like the chinos. I probably should opt for contemporary rather than slim next time (unless the tweaks are significant).

On the old site, you were also able to search by name for a shirt fabric and find results for both the OTR shirts as well as the custom swatch. That would be a useful feature to bring back as it is helpful sometimes to see a readymade shirt before deciding if you like the scale of the pattern...

Didn't there used to be more info on the custom shirting page? I seem to remember more information about the type and weight of the fabric as well as larger pictures or different views. Now, when I select a fabric, I just see a slightly larger picture and the name and that's it. Edit...

I do not like the OTR button stance. It's one of the main reasons I've gone to custom. I only undo one button (when I undo any) and I find the RTW placement uncomfortably high. I suppose I should consider RTW shirts if I never intend to wear them without a tie (of course I find the RTW cuffs...

I'm assuming this implies that the IRL photo color is accurate. If so, the tone is *significantly* lighter than the website photos.
