HOF: What Are You Wearing Right Now - Part IV (starting May 2014)

You would be much better served by a looser fit. The jacket is too tight across the waist. The trousers are too tight from the hips all the way down. Focus on the side view photo. Your profile looks like this: /.\ /....\ \..../ \./ For a classic look aim to make it look more like this...

    Advice on pants rise

That is exactly what suspenders (braces) are for. You can wear a looser waist size and keep the trousers at the proper height. For jeans and khakis, go with a lower rise.

    Sell or keep?

I wouldn't keep it. The upper back and arms are far too wrinkled. The lower back is too tight--there is too much inward curve from the shoulder line to the bottom. The button point is too high and the sleeves are too short. You might be better suited to a long instead of a regular.

Thoughts on this sports coat pants color combo?

Try brown. Or for a very casual look you could go with jeans.

Thoughts on this sports coat pants color combo?

The grey sport coat is better paired with a contrasting color in trousers. Navy is a good choice, since it is the opposite of the classic navy jacket and grey trousers.

How would you style these pants?

Mercer & Sons blue ocbd. Rancourt moccasins. Navy hopsack blazer. Surcingle belt.

Looks good. Make sure you remove the tag on the sleeve.

38R suit with 20" chest measurement

Maybe an 80's Armani might have had a 20 inch shoulder on a size 38. But wearing that today is going to look costumey.

    Dress Trousers vs Denim/Jeans Measurements

My usual jeans are Wrangler 13MWZs. Not particularly wide leg, but they do have a good rise. And the price is unbeatable.

    Dress Trousers vs Denim/Jeans Measurements

Jeans differ substantially. They are cut differently. Trousers are cut so as to have a crease in the front. Jeans are cut to be flat across the front. If you cut denim to the same pattern as trousers, using your usual measurements, you will get denim trousers. Personally, I wouldn't use Luxire...

What is the name of this style of shirt?

No particular name I am aware of. It has a camp collar, which is not hard to find. But the large double pockets are the difficult part. I have found some on Ebay. Maybe someone else knows where new versions can be had.

    Question regarding no-break pant length . . .

I spend a great deal more time sitting than standing. So I prefer my trousers to have some break. They are more comfortable and look better when seated. And I think they also look better when standing. My preference is to have the hem covering the top half of my shoelaces.

    Thoughts on this car coat?

This coat strikes me as having a contradiction between function and color. This type of coat is for warmth, primarily for fall and winter wear. But the color says spring and summer. It isn't something I would wear.

    Hemming Tapered Suit Pants?

The difference between the 32 and the 34 inseam is insignificant with respect to the width of the hem. Save yourself the bother of getting the waist altered and go with the 34. I wouldn't get them tapered. Just get them hemmed to your length.

The State of Black Tie: Your Observations

Interesting. Sounds more like something Edward VIII would have done.
