Unfunded Liabilities: a/k/a The Cloth Thread

And now Iโ€™m glad I havenโ€™t started my current commission yet for the FA16. I wonder if theyโ€™re going to put out any new plain browns like the melange Does anyone have experience of the fox air snagging easily?

Iโ€™ll ask for my tailorโ€™s opinion then, he just got the fox books but has worked with the Smith, Harrison, Hlesser books all his life. Iโ€™d probably err of trying the fox because of the colours. The WT27 looks amazing - wonder how the handle compares to lesser

How do the Fox worsted books compare to the typical worsteds (Botany, Lesser 13, Oyster, dugdale classics)

Yup thatโ€™s just me taking a poor picture with bad lighting Youโ€™re right actually, my tailor only uses 1.1m for a trouser so he can possibly fit 2 trousers and a jacket (1.8m) in the other length

Yup both. Itโ€™s a mid gray so I have a life time for trousers (4 pairs)

Iโ€™ve been able to get 2 bunches of Harrisons Universal Flannel (2.16m and 1.97m) for about ยฃ150 - is that a somewhat reasonable price for it?

Speaking of lengths, how do you all store them? Iโ€™ve just used individual plastic bags for them and then have an even bigger plastic bag over them.

If it is your first bespoke jacket - I would lead towards getting a SB first - first to guage fit and it overall is a โ€œsaferโ€ less costume looking jacket. I presume youโ€™re interested in donegal tweed designs, which vary from weave to weight. I would stray away from a gray SC as a first option...

    The Overcoat Thread

Would this be coined a โ€œloose Ulster styleโ€ coat or something completely different? It is quite close to what Iโ€™d want in overcoat albiet a little loose - striking lapels but very flowy

Iโ€™d be on the same wavelength, seems a waste to have a person talented in shaping and utilising canvas for a balmacaan if it is unstructured - the only benefit would be to choose a cloth MTO - may just go for an ulster coat with him and get a RTW balmacaan.

    The Overcoat Thread

Can someone enlighten me on the construction of a balmacaan? Theyโ€™re uncanvased? Im inbetween considering a coat from my tailor or going with the Lamarche Korea Balmacaan since I already have their Polo Coat and it fits well
