TPR is a finnicky leather. It really depends how that top coat does. It can wear off and leave you with what is essentially an oiled vachetta (lucida tannage) or it will adhere for the life of the boot. It should develop highs and lows and age pretty well. Doing a color unglazed isnt rare. It just needs to be ordered as such. Unglazed shells eventaully patina to look like their glazed counterparts anyways thanks to conditioners. So.... alden does its own coating on color 8 for consistency. Horween shell is almost always glazed as well. These are two different finishes. Its not worth doing because the D and EE 2030s have been inconsistent run to run. I would caution against the Ds especially without trying on the specific pair you're buying first.- Crizzlelovesyou
