Hey friends, I ordered this suit for my wedding reception online while I was overseas and waited a bit too long to get the tailoring done. The tailor I saw is an older gentleman who's about to retire and has been in business for over 50 years, used to make suits. The legs are too tight in the thigh causing the pleating to open up, but it's too late to return for resizing. A shame as the waste had to be taken in, I guess they just make everything for skinnier legs now. He went over the details of the suit with me and the one concern he had was that the sleeves were too long but he couldn't shorten them due to having roped shoulders and functional buttons, so he wanted to put in shoulder pads but wasn't able to source any in time. I found a place in another city that said on the phone they could put in shoulder pads. The guy I saw was very nebbish and didn't seem to really know much about suits, his answers being "looks fine to me" and suggesting to shorten the sleeve as shown in the picture attached. I do not know much about suit etiquette and style, but this will be my go-to decent suit for the next decade or more. Does it not look goofy shorting the sleeve that close to the buttons? I'm a little frustrated as it was quite a drive and the guy isn't even a tailor. Thanks.
