Hey GUYS!!

So i was browsing around and all of a sudden i chanced upon this shoe

I really like it but after reading an article that described whole cut shoes to a bit more formal i had some doubts because i wanted these for casual wear. and i dont want to buy something i wont be wearing very often.

So the question is do you guys think there will be a variety of applications for these shoes Ie. with jeans/chinos/ etc. and waht are some of your ideas that this can be worn with. Appreciate any help.:embar:

Many say wholecuts are good to wear with a tuxedo. I believe the less ornamentation on a shoe the more formal it is in general. I would think a brown or burgundy would be worn casually though. I would not wear black whole cuts casually

orz. Whole cut is NOT a formal shoe. Don't try to pass it off as formal shoe, do not use it for tuxedo. It is very much a casual shoe, but you can wear it with almost anything else.

It's not the most formal shoe, but they're still way up there. I would not wear a whole cut with jeans. Shoes worn with jeans need texture and visual weight to stand up the the denim. Wholecuts are made to be very sleek.

Unless you mean formal in the sense of tuxedos only, in which case my response would be a solid meh. That's really a wholly different discussion. Certainly they're formal enough for any business setting.

So these would NOT be overdressing for casual occasions. I dont work in the business world so these would not have an application with a suit(most of the time) unless it is with something, well, casual.

I agree with most when they say that it is too formal for jeans. Maybe in suede or with a medallion on the toe? Or both

Does anyone have any ideas where I can get a wholecut in suede RTW? Something like Meermin's, without the nappy looking suede.

How do you prefer trousers to be finished?

  • Plain hem

  • Cuffed (1.5 inches or less)

  • Cuffed (more than 1.5 inches)

  • No preference, as long as the proportions work
