Ryden, were you thinking about #8 CXL at first, or am I getting people confused? I think you'll love them.

Yes, I was planning on #8 CXL. However, some recent pictures I saw showed the leather much brighter in color than I was wanting. I think that the dark cherry water buffalo would be a better fit for what I am looking for possibly. Although I have the Iced Mocha CXL from Viberg the British Tan seems like a very quintessential White color to me. I also was originally going to do eyelets and speed hooks but thought given the shorter nature of the boot I decided on all eyelets. Yes, I think about this stuff way too much...

If you want a darker burgundy pull-up leather, you should really check out Nick's Boots offerings, one of which is a "burgundy anaflex" from Seidel Tannery. It borders on black, but any stress/stretch point is a beautiful burgundy. While I'm not impressed with Nick's non-pull-up leathers (plasticky and/or lacks dept), their burgundy anaflex, brown anaflex, and chrome mexcel (yes, spelled correctly) is some seriously impressive stuff (they sent me samples).

Ricky,

I've got the fear for you. I already feel for you, what a cock up and yes White's QC is being and does need highlighting and improvement. The fear is that I think you might get back mismatched heel sizes and shapes etc... If you don't send in your other boot. White's are a work boot company without mass produced moulds etc... You can already see quite a big difference in your boots (outsole aside) shape and I fear that unless you send the other boot in with it to be matched to you will spot a difference when it comes back. Maybe not but from experience no 2 White's that are supposed to end up looking identical. Just a suggestion.

Question for you. Can you tell me what you notice is the difference between the SJ last and the BH/SD last? Photos to demonstrate?
Honestly there doesn't seem to be a whole lot of difference that I can tell, but the SJs are more broken in than the BHs, so it's hard to compare. They have a very similar toe profile, but the SJs seem to have more vertical room (taller toe box). The arch is supposed to be a little less aggressive in the SD/BH. To me it feels the same as my broken in SJs. The SJs were probably more agressive when new. Fit wise, both boots seem about the same. Hope that helps.

Thanks for the info. I wish White's would simply provide this info. Find it odd that they don't. Funny too because everyone says the same thing... that the SJ are a bit boxier. But when I see photos of SJ, the toe seems narrower. Example. Here's a shot from b-ewing from a few days ago of a SJ. Looks narrower, right?
The narrowness will depend on the sizing width (is the photo of a D width or something narrower?). Also, when looking at any angle but straight down, the taller toebox of the SJ may give the illusion of it looking narrower (since it's width relative to the height is less) than when looking at a comparable SD. Looking at my SJ and BH, the toe box width and general contour looks about the same. The SJs are ltt though, which further complicates an objective comparison. The ltt and standard toe are built on the same last though.
