Man, semi-dress with all eyelets looks so good. I'm a big proponent of speed-hooks, but I think eyelets would be a non-issue with the standard shaft-height semi-dress, and look so much better than only (2) speedhooks at top, which I find aesthetically unbalanced and offputting.

MarioImpemba,

I find the speed hooks helpful since I use White's leather laces which are thick. The thick laces fit snug in the speed hook so that when I tie the lace, the lace does not loosen while I finish the knot. Those people at White's are always thinking.

Regards.

gd1944,

Awesome boots. Color combination is really unique --people will definitely take notice. I think White's has cornered the market on red dog smooth leather. If White's ever enter's the leather jacket business with Red Dog Smooth, or Blck Horse Hide or the Brown they use in the standard semi-dress, Schott will definitely go out of business.

Keep kickin',

Frankman

That wait is brutal, but they look awesome.

I do love the functionality of speed-hooks, just feel the 2-speedhook look is awkward. Thanks for feedback.

I knew I wanted all eyelets from the get go. That is also why I went with leather pull loops. I can get in and out of them just as easily as with speed hooks just about. I also like how clean it looks.
Those really look fantastic after your regimen! Darkened slightly but lots of depth, looks almost 3D. Love it!

For reference, these are my Trench boots in natural after a couple of months and some HDLP.

A much less substantial boot but the same leather.
Those trench boots look nice, I love natural cxl on anything!

Mine darkened quite a bit and I love it every bit.
I embrace whatever sort of patina comes my way whether it be natural, spilling beer at the bar, nicking the forklift or oil stains.

Here we are after a few days or work and play in these bad boys. Getting more and more comfortable and I am SO VERY happy with the size. They are darkening up a bit and the left shoe is a bit darker.

Anybody have any cxl suggestions for treating nicks here and there?
I was thinking a light coat of Obenauf leather oil after a long week?

With my Brown CXLs (treated originally with Obenauf's LP) it's enough just to give them a good brushing. Every once in a while I need to reapply the Obenauf's but with an oil-stuffed leather like CXL, a horsehair brush will bring the color back without much effort.

You don't see a lot of SDs with pull tabs...I like it! Also a big fan of all eyelets, so clean. Great looking boots.

Here are my Wolverine CXL's...

Deep scuff:

Literally 30 seconds of brushing and nothing else:

A brush is all you should need on CXL most days.
