So...walking past local UO today, saw big sale signs. Unbranded selvedge for $30...woohoo!

Grabbed 2 pair each 33w and 32w (straight and taper), went to dressing room. Started with 33w taper, great fit, nice stiff feeling 14.5 oz denim, and a short back yoke -- the way I like it. But after bending over a few times the top block looked a little baggy so thought I could go with 32s. So as I unbutton the waist, the button plate pops off. A closer look reveals an incredibly thin pot metal shank holding button together.

Fail.

The frustrating thing is for, say, $5 more they could have used top quality hardware.

well, for $20 you can have a pair of selvedge jeans with a custom top botton. that's a pretty damn good deal still.

i've been wearing my Tapereds for about a week straight. they softened up pretty quickly and have streched slightly in the thigh and waist. i didn't take measurements to being with so not sure how much has changed. they went from not very comfortable to pretty comfortable. that's all i was hoping for. they bleed alot of indigo. i'm a little worried about my furniture. and they're staining my sneakers more than any of my other Selvedge projects.

I got the tapered blacks, probably the best pair you can get for the price. Got it for $40 odd. Fits like NS.

^ You can still get them online, albeit not on sale, if you're looking for indigo. The grey skinnies are still $40 online, at least last I checked.

Hey dudes, I have been lurking this forum for a few days now and am wondering what would be a good pair of jeans to wear extensively. I want to keep it under $120 and my "measurements" are 29W and 30L. (according to the tag on my Levi's). Sorry for being a noob, I have only begun to strive for sartorial success since last week.
Also I want it to downplay any brand name, I want to have a unique pair of jeans but I don't want to flaunt the cost or brand, just the quality of the denim.

What cut of levi's. Also, the denim quality isn't out of this world, just better than your average. At your price range, you can also probably go naked and famous on sale at Tobi or something with a discount code (there's a million of them floating around), which are slightly better than the Unbranded brand (which is made in china rather than canada). BTW you can go about flaunting it by cuffing to show off that sweet selvedge line

How do you prefer trousers to be finished?

  • Plain hem

  • Cuffed (1.5 inches or less)

  • Cuffed (more than 1.5 inches)

  • No preference, as long as the proportions work
