How well do jeans and boat shoes work? Socks or no socks?

What are socks?

Seriously, I rarely ever wear them. I couldn't imagine wearing them with my Quoddy Trail's. However, I might reconsider had I gotten them with the leather liner.

I wear boat shoes all the time with jeans, and it definately looks better without socks.

Frightened that anyone ever thought about putting socks on with boat shoes...

what are those really low socks called, the ones that go down like half of your foot, and reminds one of ballerina slippers?

i wear those with boat shoes, or vans slip-ons in the summer. before i found out about them my feet used to get drenched in sweat after a summer day in slip-ons or boat shoes with no socks. extremely gross, don't recommend this route at all.

Loafer socks, usually. I also recommend them.

also would be one of the few times i'd go with cuffing the jean a la "get smart"

it just looks more natural that way.

still waiting for my quoddys, but i was planning on wearing socks while the weather is still cold...only reason why i can see it working is cuz i wear skinny jeans w/ some stacking...so no sock would really show....and if a little does show, its not so bad, i think, as long as your socks aren't of the white tube variety

Personally, I think boat shoes only work with chinos/trousers, not jeans. Although I'm sure some could pull it off.

It probably looks better with chinos like jizzy said. However I can see it working with lighter blue and medium blue jeans. I think they have to be rolled up to show ankle though. I wouldn't even try this with dark raw jeans.

Jeans and boat shoes yes

Socks with boat shoes, yes if you need them. But, once your shoes get really broken in and it's warm you shouldn't really need them.
